Potions

Introduction

Alchemists and brewers unite, for all your potion needs are contained within this article. This article describes potions that you may find or craft during your travels through Aekko. A table of all potions that can be brewed can be found below. Refer to D&D Books we are Including for any potions that may not be found in this list.

Potion Crafting

General Rules

Each of the potions in the table above have their own unique crafting recipe that allows you to create them yourself. Each recipe consists of a combination of red, green, and blue materials. See the Material Gathering article for more information on material types. You may brew a potion from a recipe you know during short or long rests, or during any other down time. Brewing more than two potions during a long rest will prevent you from benefiting from it.

Who Can Craft

Any player that has proficiency with potioner’s kit may craft potions. This can be done by using their own potioner’s tools in any safe place or by using a brewing station at any potioner's guild. NPC alchemists may also craft or sell potions to you.

Learning Potion Recipes

There a few methods of learning new potion recipes. Firstly, you can learn how to craft a potion by experimentation. During short or long rests, you may expend eight materials of any type and roll on the Potions Table. If you land on a potion that you do not know the recipe for, you learn the recipe and gain one of that potion. Otherwise, you gain nothing.

You may also attempt to synthesize a potion's recipe. During a long rest you may attempt to separate the components of the potion to figure out how it was made. You must make a intelligence saving throw on the table below. See the table below for results.
Lastly recipes can be found and collected as loot, taught to you from other players, or bought from merchants.

Multi-Level Potions

Some potions can be made more potent by expending more materials while crafting, this generally gives the player a similar but more powerful version of that potion; this is an important thing to note considering the limited space on one's toolbelt.

For example, the Aeronauts Antidote has three levels of potency with the effects changing per level, granting immunity to fall damage on the first, a gliding speed on the second, and a flying speed on the third. A second level potion is brewed by expending 1.5 times the amount of each resource rounded up while a third level potion is brewed by expending 3 times the amount of each resource.
