Noirdremj

Goddess of the Hunt, Moon, and Instinct

Achievements & History

From the stories shared of the huntress, she is said to have been the first born humanoid in Aekko, having been born from the shadows of a day-long planet-aligning solar eclipse. After several-thousand pointless years on an empty planet, her sister, Eilifur, became aware of an imbued power allowing her to form bodies after shapes which Noirdremj leanred she could shift into. Noirdremj was somehow able to imbue consciousness onto these bodies, which is, according to her church, the origin of the first humanoids and beasts to roam Aekko.   Since populating the lands she had wandered aimlessly for thousands of years, Noirdremj became enamored with the beings her and her sister had created, documenting their behaviors and adaptations which they seemed to experience and evolve without her involvement. These documentations were drafted up in the very first book called the "Fiend Folio", whose hieroglyphics supposedly depict these earliest animals, speaking of their supposed purpose in this world, and their theorized origins from the powers that came before her. Unfortunately, only a handful of relics of these texts remain, with the few supposed pages left being kept under lock-and-key.   Thankfully, her research still bore some fruit, as her teachings of hunting/foraging, weapon-crafting, and shelter-building were learned by the primitive humanoids of Aekko, expediating their development massively. After several thousands of years of her field research, the huntress goddess became quiet to those of Aekko. Some believed Noirdremj to have entirely abandoned her research, resigning herself to the Relam of the Gods or a remote section of Aekko, while others believe the huntress goddess to be living among her children, continuing her research as a disguised scholar or as a wild animal.

Depiction

An eyepatch-clad Halfling woman who sports shoulder-length red hair and freckles, she is commonly seen with very exaggerated facial features to look as though she has an animal-like hunger. Sometimes she is even depicted in an animal form, as one of her powers included shapeshifting, commonly being shown as fanged animals such as snakes, a boar, an elephant, and primarily a sabre-toothed tiger. Her humanoid form is usually wearing leather armor and a cloak made of brush, she carries with her a whip and a shortsword, and has a set of daggers attached to her armor

Divine Domains

Noirdremj holds governance over multiple domains due to her importance in the creation and education of early creatures. Being the creator of hunting, she holds domain over the hunt, with one's success in such endeavors being determined by how they "honor the goddess" (if you are not hunting as the goddess would, are keeping your mind closed, and are not offering any of your killings to the goddess, then your hunt is likely to not be fruitful). Noirdremj, being birthed of the moon's shadow, has both the domains of the moon and of darkness, with those who pray to her respectfully praying at night. Finally, Noirdremj is believed to have created the concepts of instinct and free-thinking, imbuing it into those she gave life. Some of her devout followers believe their internal voice to be that of the goddess herself, instructing them on what to do next.

Artifacts

Due to it having been over 1,000 years since she was seen in the public eye, very few relics of Noirdremj exist throughout the Malnovan continent. The remains of a set of cave-painting-esque tablets claimed to be the precursor to her "Fiend Folio" can be found within her wing at Bügendmend Hospital, and a few scraps of pages from the original book are kept by the devout of her church as priceless artifacts to never see the light of day. There have also been an uncountable number of fake "original Fiend Folio"s which the church's heads refuse to even entertain; these forgeries finding their way to many a church despite this.   There have also been a few supposed preserves found of the goddess herself, with her undying/unyielding hairs and bones being supposedly found by the Devslekhi and Hunters Reawakened respectively. These artifacts have yet to be verified by the church proper, as these sects keep these relics under lock and key, however the sects' leaders claim that these godly parts are as indestructible as diamonds

Holy Books & Codes

Noirdremj's research, despite its nitty-gritty details being lost to time, still exist in some forms thanks to the members of Her Hunt. Scribes of the church have attempted to recreate the research which their goddess did thousands of years ago, recording the behaviors and lessons which they learned through their experiences in nature into a book called "Of Blood and Bone". The book depicts several desciples of the goddess and their journeys through the wild and among those of human society, with the few general shared themes being the encouragement of curiosity, the trusting of one's instincts, man's necessary coexistence with nature, and the inevitability of death

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The huntress was first represented by early humanoids by 8 stars in the sky which depict a sabre tooth tiger. As her stay in Aekko extended for her research, Noirdremj gained a number of different symbols which her and her followers used to worship her. Beasts with prominent fangs/tusks, such as mammoths/elephants, walruses, boars, snakes, and mainly sabre-toothed cats, are commonly used as animalistic depictions of the goddess, as they wear their animalistic instincts on their outsides.   Continuing with the fanged/tusked theme, followers of Noirdremj's Hunt often pray to the goddess using a fang/tusk-shaped bone which is commonly carved with crude drawings of things that person holds dear, praying for their instincts to lead them well. Each of the church's subsects carry this theme to completion, with plenty of them showing fanged-mouths, claws, blood, or animals (some of which were listed earlier) sporting these features

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Noirdremj, having woken upon a populationless land in time immemorium, sought nothing more than to explore this world and understand her purpose in it. Her and her sister Eilifur populated the land with beings whose forms and attitudes they did not recognize, believing them to have come from a world before their existence. Thanks to this curiosity, Noirdremj wanted to find the purpose of each of these forms, as well as form an idea as to what the land before them was like and its creator, documenting all of that down for her children to gain that same information she assumed they wanted.   She encouraged education among her creations, teaching them how to hunt and survive with one another, and even passing on her documented findings to her early followers. She hopes that one day, her and her sister's "creations" will serve the purpose that they were built for, and can honor their ancestors who came before them.
