Gazar Gates

Purpose / Function

These gates were reportedly constructed in the early fledgling years of the Ezlekhian empire during the reign of the direct descendants of the Grand Khan. This Grand Khan specialized in Conjuration magic, and his pioneered magic allowed these gates to be imbued with magic runes which can cast a Gate spell upon placing an extremely large rune-engraved stone on as its keystone. More recently, the rune-engraved stone at its top, which had to be replaced on a yearly basis due to wear-and-tear, has been permanently replaced with a longer-lasting Fantasma Crystal upon the apex of identical gates.   The gates number 5 in total, and are located in a circle in the now-abandoned city of Büuteel Gazar in Id Duudakh. Grand Khan Dai' Ehk chose to rule over the territory in which he placed these gates, and eventually constructed 5 identical gates in one of each of the corners of his kingdom, fulfilling his plan of entrusting each of his children with a territory which held a gate. These gates were not only kept so that Dai' Ehk could assist his children with all of the supplies may ever need, but they also existed to ensure that if his children needed guidance or discipline, that he was but a few steps away from them at any moment.   The 5 gates lead to the capital cities of all 5 territories, with the crystals adorning their tops being held by trusted loyal members of each territory. Before the existence of the pocket dimension of Büuteel Gazar, the city in the material plane acted as a hub for all of the gates. A sixth identical gate is located in the former capital of the Amidrakh, which is located in current Bambaian territory, however the crystal keystone at its apex has since been shattered, leaving the gate inoperable.

Alterations

Initially the gates were to lead to 5 different encampment locations, one for Bambai, one for Khuurmag, one for Khudalaa, one for Amidrakh, and one for Tagnuul. During the Second Ezlekhian Civil War, Khan Exim modified a portal to reroute into the pocket dimension of the Büuteel Gazar, which he rerouted the Khuurmag portal to the otherworldly space due to his rivalry with the Illusion kingdom during the Second Ezlekhian Civil War   The kingdom of Amidrakh was seized by Bambai in 1650, with the portal to its capital being quickly rerouted to Khuurmag's city of Tsetserleg due to relations having improved between them and Id Duudakh after the war's aftermath.

Architecture

The gates are all made of large stone bricks dug from the caves near the old city of Büuteel Gazar, and are built to be 20ft wide arches which reach up to 30ft in the air. Each gate has an extremely complex etching of runic symbols which act to channel a gate spell to a specific matching gate located somewhere else throughout space. In order to create the pathway between the gates, a Fantasma Crystal about 18 inches in diameter is placed as the arch's keystone, acting as a conduit for the Gate spell which is written into the archway.
