Maversia

Maversia, or the Maversian Legate as it is formally known, is a nation of contrasts. From the frigid ice shelves and barren wastelands that dominate the Vantaisel region in the north to the bustling metropolis that is its capital Mivite in the central Chainges region, to the gently rolling hills and rivers that comprise most of the farmland in the western Pitruy region. This nation sprawls nearly from coast to coast in Amhara, making it the second largest nation by size on the continent, behind modern Borviverlia.   It is a nation of dragonborn, and sometimes stylizes itself the First Nation. It has a unique claim to that title, as dragonborn were created directly by Io herself during the First Age, and Mivite was one of the, if not the first, settlement of any size built by those first dragonborn. There are families that live in Mivite which claim they can draw a direct line from themselves all the way back to the original founding of Mivite before the Dawn War.

Demographics

Maversia is dominates by dragonborn, but nearly every race and species native to Amhara is represented in its capital, Mivite.

Government

Mivite is the seat of power for the Miversian Legate. The Legate itself is not the governing body, but rather acts as a sort of council whose job it is to draw up the laws of the three trisovereign rulers, and resolve disputes between them, when one rule appears to be in conflict with another. The trisovereigns themselves hold absolute power over their respective regions, Lys Thammyl over the Pitruy region in the west, Xarjhan Aldraka over the central Chainges region, and Narder Ammet over the Vantaisel region in the northeast. Though each trisovereign holds absolute power over their respective region, royal decrees that affect the entire country must be approved by the Legate, and pass an opportunity to be vetoed by a consortium of the other two trisovereigns. The system is designed to be slow to change, and it has lead to Maversia being slow to act in times of national emergency. But it has also allowed for a sense of stability during those same times, which most of its citizens find comfort in.

Defences

Maversia has a bit of a reputation as a "sleeping giant". Slow to act, even slower to respond to hostility or aggression. But when it does rise, it rises with a might that is feared by all nation's on Amhara. Its mighty dragonborn army, backed by thousands of clerics and healers marching under the banners of literally hundreds of different faiths, has sometimes been called the Manyfold Army. Maversia also keeps a small Navy along its western shore, it is much smaller than its land forces.

Industry & Trade

Trade across the width and breadth of Maversia had been slow and tedious historically. But, under Aldraka's rule, Maversia is beginning to open its trade borders to the west and south again, selling everything from textiles from Vantaisel to winter grains, oats, and barleys from the more temperate Pitruy region. Ice is also a major export, and it is not uncommon to see huge ice barges sailing down the Green Coast, packed with salted ice, on their way to southern Zesos, Borviverlia, or even Lisea.

Infrastructure

Maversia, is undeniably flourishing under the rule of Xarjhan Aldraka. Trade has blossomed as Maversia has re-opened many trade routes connecting west and east Amhara, building roads and highways, clearing and maintaining mountain passes, and increasing patrols along major paths of travel to keep them safe from marauders and clear of obstructions. It's even rumored that construction has already begun on a network of massive, permanent magical portals that would connect distant parts of Maversia, and allow instantaneous travel between cities that previously would have been several weeks hard travel.   This focus on improving the overall infrastructure of Maversia has transformed the nation from its previous status as somewhat of a backwater expanse, to a major political player on the world stage. While critics of Aldraka point to his lack of personal connection to the commonfolk, it's hard to argue with the fact that he has done more to help improve the lives of the average dragonborn than almost any other Maversian trisovereign before him.
