Borviverlia
The Borviverlian Empire is the largest nation on Amhara. Bordered on the south by the Sea of Knives, the Borvish empire now extends almost all the way along the southern coast of the continent. During the Seven Year War, Borviverlia expanded its territory to include much of what used to be Laofani, Maversia, and Tirrin, and now shares borders with nearly every other nation on Amhara except the Republic of Vilemia. Borviverlia also now entirely encompasses the unaligned extranational area known as the Mintici Enclave.
Demographics
There are few true urban centers in Borviverlia. Most of its civilian population is clustered in small townships and farming collectives, each ruled by a local Lord-General, who enforces the law, settles disputes, and acts as the local magistrate.
The two notable exceptions to this are Cano in the southwest, and Castelle in so-called Old Borviverlia, on the Castellian Bay. Cano is largely a military installation, providing the Empire with a training ground for both ground troops and seamen. It is also well known for its famed Spice Market, situated on Sinter's Hill. Castelle is the nation's capital. Dominated by the castle on its eastern side, which some say was built by giants, and by the Mistwood at its center, Castelle is at once a beautiful and imposing sight.
Government
Borviverlian government is organized in terms of a military hierarchy. The highest ranking officer is known as High General of Borviverlia. This is technically considered a distinction of honor rather than a true military rank. It is denoted by an insignia of seven white stars on a tan field, worn on the shoulder. High Generals also function as President of the Borviverlian Empire.
The Presidential Cabinet are also afforded military ranks, similar to that of High General of Borviverlia. These are known as Minister Generals, and are denoted by a field of six stars on a tan field. These are also worn on the shoulder. Traditionally, Minister-Generals are appointed to office by the High General directly.
Under these Minister-Generals are the actual military ranks of officers who command the actual troops. These are (in order of descending rank):
- Corps General (5 stars on blue field)
- Division General (4 stars on blue field)
- Brigadier General (3 stars on blue field)
- Lord General (2 stars on light blue field)
- Lord General, 2nd Class (1 star on light blue field)
