Thesithoth Corollate

"We have failed you. I have failed you. I realize only now what it is that you, our people, truly needed. We did not listen to the warnings and the signs as they appeared. Signs that everything we built had begun to crack. It is with heavy hearts that we of the High Council of the Corrolate hereby declare war on the Red Hand. May this war end quickly, minimizing suffering to the beloved citizens of our fair-"
— Final Transmission of the High Council of the Corrolate, cut off by the first shots of the Three Hour War
Little is known about the Thesithoth Corrolate in modern times. The scattered remnants of their vast empire remain prized relics among all peoples of the galaxy despite the inscrutability of their functions.

Structure

Through the remnants of discovered transmissions, recordings, and other relics, it is believed that the Thesians ruled with a relatively light touch. They allowed subordinate people groups a large amount of freedom, doing little to restrict anything beyond interplanetary travel and commerce.   While this made them quite popular among more peaceful peoples of the Obsidian Veil, it would ultimately prove to be their downfall. Organizations like the Red Divide eventually rose up with military might against the ideals of the Thesithothian Corrolate.

History

Nobody knows how or when the Corrolate was originally formed, but it almost certainly expanded to include the entirety of the galaxy. Thesians were not known to be tyrants, but their rule was not beloved by all. Some peoples resented the laws and culture of the Corrolate. Occasionally, this resentment built up into a true uprising against the Corrolate.   These uprisings were rarely violent in nature, as their disputes were primarily targeted toward the bureaucracy set in place by the Corrolate. However, the uprisings of one particularly vehement group, known as the Red Divide, frequently ended in violence. Eventually this forced the Corrolate to respond with military force in order to quell the violent uprisings.

The Three Hour War

Unfortunately, due to the advanced nature of the era's military technology, the proceeding war lasted a mere three hours (measured in True Time Units). During those three hours it is estimated that some 78% of sentient, spacefaring life within the galaxy was obliterated.   Needless to say, the catastrophe left the galaxy in ruins. Planets and colonies that relied on shipments from other worlds began to starve. The strange, magical technology of the Corrolate could no longer be readily repaired or refueled.   When all was said and done, modern scholars estimate the galactic death toll to be upwards of 98% of all spacefaring life.

Demography and Population

As far as modern scholars can ascertain, the Corrolate's political influence stretched to the very edges of the galaxy. It is unknown just how many different peoples had joined the Corrolate's ranks by the time of its self destruction in the Three Hour War.
