Vriqor
The Vriqor are a group of battle-mages and sorcerers who fight on behalf of the Crimson Spears and its parent organization, the Crimson Syndicate. They are among the most well-regarded and even feared spell casting organizations across the continent.
Composition
Equipment
Many Vriqor wear magical cloaks unique to their order, which provide a direct benefit to the evocation and abjuration magic they specialize in. They also utilize unique rings which allow them to communicate with one another via message and respond quickly to threats via teleport.
Weaponry
Unlike many spellcasters, the Vriqor utilize martial training in addition to magic. They are trained specifically in one-handed melee weapons, in order to leave one hand free for casting. Many wizards utilize weapons and magic in tandem, with spells like booming blade and green-flame blade. Unlike Eldritch Knights, Vriqor remain pure casters and have the ability to cast extremely difficult and sophisticated spells.
Training
As young children, many members of the Vriqor attend spellcasting schools established by the Wardens of the Wellspring. After displaying an affinity towards evocation and abjuration magic, they are surreptitiously selected to attend war wizard training in the region of Dorwine, abandoning their training with the Wardens, and instead learning directly from the Vriqor.
If training goes well, the recruits become an apprentice to an established Vriqor, a position of high honor. Training takes seven years, where many drop out due to the high standards of the curriculum. Once training is successfully completed, the wizard earns the title of Vriqor and serves under a Darkhand within the Crimson Spears.
History
For centuries, the Vriqor served the region of Dorwine as advisors, law-enforcement agents, and powerful arcane combatants. They would investigate shady business dealings, especially the guilds within the area. After the the Nosirien Invasion occurred, the Vriqor became more involved with the military operations of the region, including the defense of its people. Transitioning to service with the Crimson Spears was seamless and a natural fit for the battle-hardened organization.
