Church of Elel
The Church of Elel is the primary religious organization dedicated to the worship and service of the goddess of the sun and deity of order Elel. Worshipers consist of lawyers, farmers, explorers, seafarers and adventurers.
Structure
Initiation - The church dedicated to Elel serves in a very hierarchical structure, and relative to other churches, it is very strict and binding. There is little room for advancement, but when a priest does ascend, their divine powers are greatly enhanced.
Titles - The following titles are used by the church:
- Sovereign - A singular cleric whose duties include the oversight of members' advancement within the church hierarchy and enforcing Elel's will.
- Sunlord - Tending to the greater churches individual temples as well as holy sites are experienced clergy known as Sunlords.
- Aspirant - Members of the church that serve and abide by Elel's rigid laws and enforce her tenets throughout the world.
- Order of the Nomads - Wandering clergy of Elel who traverse the White Desert propagating the word of the church. They live a simple lifestyle, and even refuse hydration in an effort to get closer to their goddess.
- Order of Light - Militant order that unified and defended against malevolent deities such as Zantyr and Ibik. Some of the knights became overzealous and started attacking other churches, regardless of alignment and belief.
Granted Divine Powers
Those who dedicate their lives to the worship of Elel are rewarded with certain blessings from the sun goddess. Her domains are both light and order and while most priests within the church's ranks can wield fire spells without much effort, the truly blessed are able to wield the power of the sun itself. Some have even been known to dictate the position of the sun through divine grace, and are imbued with the ability to cast out the darkness, much to the chagrin of shadow wielders and creatures from Umbra and especially the undead.
