Nydonian Sugarcane

Basic Information

Growth Rate & Stages

This blue sugarcane grows extremely fast, nearly as fast as bamboo at up to nearly a quarter of an inch per day.

Ecology and Habitats

Nydonian sugarcane, found almost exclusively inside the borders of the Republic of Nydonia, grows in hotter, humid environments. While some grows along a lot of the Nydonian coastline, much more can be found inland growing along freshwater rivers and in marshes and bogs. Additionally, many artificial sugarcane paddies have been established to mass produce and harvest the plant for its resources.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Nydonian sugarcane's most famous use by far is to make cyan dye, which was extremely rare and difficult to make before its discovery by the major colonial powers in the 1700s. The dye quickly became highly sought after and was not a small part of the motivation for the Pertorian Commonwealth esrablsuhing a colony in the region. Cyan sugarcane can also be eaten or used as a sugar substitute, although it is more bitter. It also has medicinal uses, which vary in alleged effectiveness.
