Ravenloft
Castle Ravenloft is the lair of Count Strahd von Zarovich. It is located in Barovia , overlooking the Village of Barovia. Castle Ravenloft was built atop the ruin of an older fortress by artisans, wizards, and workers loyal to Strahd’s family. Strahd rewarded the castle’s genius architect, Artimus, with a crypt in the castle’s catacombs. The castle was named after Strahd’s mother, Ravenovia, who also lies entombed below.
Castle Ravenloft stands on a large pillar of stone overlooking a vast ravine. Beneath the castle is a vast network of catacombs, and the tombs of important figures of Barovia's past. The castle proper includes a cathedral, study, teleportation center, and various other chambers.
Somewhere deep in Ravenloft's crypts lies Strahd's tomb, where it is presumed that he sleeps during the day, and must return to if he is weakened. While this is common behavior for vampires, Strahd is the master of his domain and this has not been confirmed by anyone who lived to tell it.
