Captain Mitchell

Captain Julius Mitchell, was a privateer merchant trader, well known within the noble community as a reliable transporter of exotic goods. Captain Mitchell spent many lucrative years crewing his ship The Calm Delilah , eventually attracting the attention of Lady Phane Prestside who was interested in collecting ancient, forgotten artifacts. She commissioned the captain to journey far into the Trackless Sea, to a remote region known as the Dead Man’s Isle, and recover a number of ancient artifacts for her collection.   Taking the only map leading to the elusive and forgotten region, Captain Mitchell amassed a fearsome crew - one capable of braving the dangers and terrors they may face along The Calm Delilah’s, fateful voyage. His voyage was a successful one but costly, both in lives and gold. The return trip was to have a much darker fate. His first mate, Lavina Wisp, hired for this voyage and respected by the crew, was corrupted by The Sapphire Rose. Her anger and paranoia grew until she incited a mutiny during a storm in the middle of the night. As his ship was torn apart around him Captain Mitchell managed to slay Lavina, but not before she cursed him, his ship, and his crew.   After the storm, Captain Mitchell and a few other survivors awoke on the sands of an uncharted island that he named Spiteful Shores. While marrooned, the Sapphire Rose worked its dark magic on Captain Mitchell and along with the ghost of Lavina Wisp haunting him, that was more than enough to drive the poor man out of his mind; as chronicled in The Logbook of Captain Mitchell, recovered later.   The Moonlight Marauders eventually discovered the Captain's body on the island near the main camp. His corpse was desicated and he'd been feasted on by giant spiders. William Ray took his brass luckstone as a keepsake, hoping it might serve him better than its former master.
