Prime
The Prime is the ruler of Melcrishi and runs the Melcrisian government with the assistance of The Dewan. As with all things Melcrisian, red-tape bureaucracy is paramount in the day-to-day life and selection of The Prime.
The Prime represents Melcrishi, not only in matters of state but is also looked at and the embodiment of their society. This means that they look to the law to solve all issues and stand on formality and tradition to maintain stability.
Qualifications
There are technically no qualifications that need to be met to write an essay and throw one's hat into the ring to become the new Prime. Despite its openness, the selection process tends to select senior members of the Dewan and is almost always from The Chosen caste.
Appointment
The Prime is selected by The Dewan based on a written essay, and in cases of a runoff, debate. The essay must prove the intelligence and critical thinking of the applicant is above reproach. The essays do not go into political changes the would-be Prime would make but rather the theory around the structure of government and it's laws.
Duties
The Prime enacts new laws and edicts with the help of the Dewan. The Prime also serves as the Lord Emperors' main law writer and lawyer. They also serve as the final voice in judicial matters in Melcrishi.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The only way The Prime can be dismissed is when their time on Adulla has come to an end. This has lead to issues when in their old age The Prime begins enacting crazy laws and red-tape. In true Melcrisian fashion, these laws are highly debated, but still active.
