Vezran (/vezrɘn/)

Vezran

Vezran, the "Slayer of Sages", ignited the plan to destroy the shackles restraining the Lord of Chaos. Along with his sister Ivy and mentor Diabolous, he made significant progress; killing three Sages (Luxrin, Mayor Eaglad, and Chris) before falling at the hands of the party and Ironheart.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Vezran was trained to be the brawn of the pair of him and Ivy. He grew to be a tall and strong man with remarkable strength, especially when including his prosthetic arm.

Body Features

His right arm was destroyed after a spell horribly backfired but was replaced by a shards of a suit of armour, held together by wisps of swirling energy. These shards form his arm and hand, and he has complete control over it.

Identifying Characteristics

He doesn't cover his prosthetic hand much and so that is immediately noticeable.

Specialized Equipment

He wields the sceptre that holds the same orb that the Lord of Chaos used to transcend his form.

Personal history

Vezran was taken at a very young age from his parents alongside his sister, Ivy, by the Diabolous. He had a very neglectful upbringing as a result and his soul was infused with part of the Lord of Chaos'.   He was indoctrinated into the philosophy of the Lord of Chaos and raised as a human weapon, often by attacking or engaging in fights with his sister or their trainer, the Diabolous. Vezran mostly focused on the physical aspect on combat, relying on his brawn to overcome his opponents. He specialised in the sword (specifically preferring a greatsword) but had spread his expertise into many different types of weapons. That is not to say he didn't delve into magic, though he did not prefer it, he was successful in his use of magic and used it intermittently during his engagements.   Ivy's use of magic and strategising meant that Vezran often struggled to defeat her. While he would basically always win if magic wasn't involved, Ivy was too powerful a spellcaster for him to overcome. Ivy viewed him as weak, a disappointment to the her and the Diabolous. This did not deter Vezran, however. If anything, it motivated him to do better. This need to do greater would end up showing itself during one of their fights.   Once again, Ivy was winning. Vezran was on the backfoot and could not close the distance. But now he'd had enough. He started towards Ivy and, while evading her attacks, began to build up energy into a spell. His rage overtook him though and he lost focus, causing all of the focused energy to burst out explosively in a devastating backfire. Ivy was mostly okay, suffering no major injuries. Vezran, on the other hand, also now without his other hand, ended up destroying his right arm. It was torn off in the explosion, severing it completely up to just before the shoulder.   Vezran was harshly punished. Not only were his actions extremely reckless, he almost killed himself. The Diabolous was able to mostly heal whatever was left, but there was never a chance of the arm being reattached. Fortunately, Vezran was left handed, so he didn't lose his dominant hand. Regardless, he was now left with an extreme disadvantage - if not to his sister then to anyone he may ever face. He could no longer wield many weapons, and his magic was weaker for he subconsciously feared to backfire once again. He could not settle for this. Vezran had to regain his strength, or there would be no hope for him.   Around Devil's Eye Land, where they were brought up, the ancient remains of corpses and adventurers that never made it back were strewn here-and-there. Vezran was able to scavenge the arm set of a suit of armour that was in about as good condition as these remains come. While removing it from the ground and...original owner, it did break apart a lot around the hand and fingers, where the effects of age and weathering were the greatest. This did not deter Vezran and he scooped up the shards to take along with him. His plan was daring, even careless, but he was willing to try anything to regain what he had lost.   He returned to his room and laid the shards onto his table. They were coloured black and red, so perhaps the wearer was from Ifrad. A mostly irrelevant detail, but Vezran liked the colour scheme. He applied a spell to the shards to try and rebind them together but it wasn't so successful. Their original shape was mostly lost so they wouldn't fit evenly and line up. Vezran decided that this could work to his advantage, and instead made sure that they lined up enough. The magic was holding the armour together in one piece, with some wisps of energy swirling around it, but this wasn't the end of it. Vezran had made himself an extremely rudimentary harness for his shoulder that could latch onto the armour and hold it steady. He did so, and the shattered arm hung loosely at his side. He swung it upon the table, intentionally being quite forceful to test the sturdiness of the magic holding it together. A quick check over proved it was still keeping it in "one" piece, so he moved onto the last step: gaining control of it. He cast another spell, this time onto himself and the arm, re-linking the magic binding the armour with his own body and soul. It was very painful for a short while as the flow was forced through him directly, but it did in fact work. The arm, and the magic in it, was now paired with his own body; he could control it once again as if it was his own. The harness was also no longer required anymore as the armour was now bound directly onto the shoulder.   The Diabolous was impressed by Vezran's initiative to get a new arm and to even pull it off successfully. To prove its effectiveness, Vezran immediately challenged Ivy to combat as they would have done many times before. The only rule was no magic, simply to show off the prowess his new arm provided. Vezran would typically win these melee fights anyway, as he is bigger and far stronger than Ivy, but he was able to far easier now. While there was some general sense in the arm, it was subtle, so pain from it was greatly diminished from its fleshy counterpart. This allowed him to be more aggressive and straightforward in combat, he could use the armour to block attacks for example, with the magic holding the arm together ensuring unparalleled resistance.   Usually, they would be fighting for a couple of minutes before a winner would be determined. This time, however, Vezran overcame Ivy within forty seconds - surprising even himself. Ivy knew she would still be ahead of the curve in terms of magic but now Vezran had firmly secured himself as the superior fighter, forever. This renewed the Diabolous' trust in Vezran's strength and assured him that he was still capable of completing the plan.   That plan was the elimination of the Sages.   That'll covered in more detail elsewhere.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Vezran is loyal to the Diabolous and follows his word. He was promised a mighty reward if he helped return the Lord of Chaos and was hopeful for the whole process to come to fruition. Not only that, but he refused to be completely outdone by his sister and had to prove to her that he wasn't as weak as she thought he was.
