Ironheart Vigrad

Sage of the Hammer Ironheart Vigrad

Ironheart is the modern Sage of the Hammer. He was a master blacksmith that was born and killed in Marrarock. Loved by his fellow villagers, he grew a mighty reputation among Marrarock and across the world for his incredible skills. His family's company, Vigrad Metal Works, was Adremesis' leading manufacturer of everything metal. They supplied to militaries, settlements for infrastructure, and citizens worldwide for tools and gear. They were an incredibly rich company, and Ironheart moved much of this wealth into helping Marrarock, such as improving mining conditions and allowing for greater imports of fresh food as the few farms close to Marrarock often didn't provide enough food for everyone.

When Vezran attacked him, he fought with all he had. In fact, he fought so hard that Vezran genuinely struggled to kill him. He had to resort to more extreme means, but nonetheless did not have it easy.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Despite his age, his activity in smithery has allowed him to remain strong. Age will still catch to him though, as he often finds himself with some joint pain and other assorted aches, as a result he is no where near the mobility he used to be.

Identifying Characteristics

The colour of his hair and beard is quite unique as though they are greying with age, them being constantly heated by flying sparks and nearby furnaces caused his hair to gradually become a strong and dark silvery colour.

Personal history

Ironheart was the distant descendant of the Ancient Sage of the Hammer, Ironclad. He was taught the trade of blacksmithing by his father as a teen and grew to work with him. After his father eventually passed away, Ironheart was distraught for some months. He found comfort in smithing but simultaneously hated it for it just reminded him of late father. He finally accepted that he was gone and was okay with that. After he was able to get back onto his feet, he devoted himself day and night to master the art of blacksmithing like his father before him. He would do so, and with his work he was able to invest in developments for Marrarock, such as better working conditions in the mines and for greater imports of fresh food (growing crops in the mountains did not always work out). He became somewhat of a hero around Marrarock, and people greatly respected him. Ironheart set aside the appreciation, though he was certainly grateful, and said that it was just the right thing to do.

When he was 28, he married and, later the same year, he had a child: Laurence. Unfortunately, Laurence contracted a serious disease when he was only 11. The doctors agreed that they require his leg to be amputated, otherwise it could spread throughout his body and kill him. Pained by his son's condition, Ironheart paid the necessary fees and Laurence underwent the surgery. He returned somewhat traumatised, but was now free from his illness. Ironheart and his wife grew slightly distant during this time as Ironheart felt that Laurence's injury was somehow his fault. He eventually talked it out with his wife and cleared up the turmoil, and to help repay for his actions, he constructed a prosthetic leg for his son. His first model was not the best, the knee could not bend and the foot was slightly lopsided, but just the feeling of having his leg back - or something similar - made his son smile for the first time in weeks.

As his son grew older and required new sizes of prosthetics, Ironheart worked tirelessly to ensure the leg was an improvement to the last. His second model had a better foot and a knee that could bend but needed to be manually moved. His third, the knee could bend and lock into place in rhythm that would sync with Laurence's walk so that the prosthetic would move like a real one. His fourth and final had hinges and springs in the toes and ankles to help the foot move better with stepping, and once again, to have it move like a real one. The prosthetics would always require maintenance, but they always made Laurence happy. Ironheart lived his whole life doing what he adored, blacksmithing.

And he died a legend.
