Darkhold
A city where shadow meets steel, Darkhold looms at the heart of a broken landscape, its walls jagged with blackened iron and fused obsidian, forever smudged by ashfall and industry. Here, silence is not peace—it is control.
Darkhold is a city of restraint, surveillance, and discipline. The only music is the clang of hammers, the hiss of steam, or the tolling of iron bells. It is not a place of joy, but of purpose and power—where one’s worth is proven by service, strength, or submission.
Districts
- The Black Keep (central fortress and throne seat)
- The Iron Veins (industrial forges, foundries, and smelters)
- The Silent Market (strictly regulated commerce under constant watch)
- Graveward (religious necropolis-temple quarter)
- Ashslums (a sprawling shantytown outside the inner walls)
- The Chained Docks (heavily fortified river port for black barques and ironclad barges)
Points of interest
The Black Keep:
A brutalist tower of fused metals and cold enchantments, it rises in oppressive dominance. Here sits the Bleak Iron Throne itself, forged from the weapons of a thousand vanquished foes and anchored into the soul of the city.
The Iron Veins:
Endless bellows, steam vents, and fire-lit tunnels mark this vast industrial zone. Bound undead, shackled elementals, and indentured workers fuel the war machine of the Throne. The air here tastes of soot and iron.
Graveward:
The city’s spiritual center, housing necrosanct temples and bone sanctuaries where priests of ash, rust, and shadow conduct rituals to honor death, entropy, and ancestral chains. Tomb-priests walk among the ossuaries.
The Silent Market:
Merchants here sell weapons, grim relics, and soulbound gear—but all under the gaze of the Order of Iron Masks, who suppress forbidden trade and monitor every word.
Ashslums:
Outside the inner sanctum lies a shantytown of exiles, desperate pilgrims, and those not worthy of citizenship. Life here is harsh, but many still cling to the hope of rising through blood, coin, or favor.
