Defkalion Order
The Four Empires requested a neutral force to combat common monstrous threats. For no one of them would trust any of the others with the power to send their own men onto the territories of the others, without being tempted to do their neighbouring states some mischief. The Circle of Magi provided the solution.The Defkalions are an order of monster hunters who operate across Adar. They are associated with the Circle of Magi, and are officially neutral in political affairs. Defkalions normally work alone, or in very small groups.
Structure
The defkalions have only two formal ranks: Trainees, and Defkalions. Trainees are those boys choosen by the Circle to undergo Defkalion training, but who have not yet undergone their mutations.
Once training has been completed the trainee has survived their mutations, they are considered full Defkalions.
Defkalions are theoretically under the authority of the Circle of Magi. But this authority is rarely invoked.
Culture
Defkalions tend to feel a certain distance to the world at large. Many humans consider them freaks, while the more monsterous creatures of the world fear them, with good reason. Defkalions tend to feel a deep kinship to other members of their order. It is normal for a Defkalion to periodically return to the particular Defkalion academy to meet up with their "brothers".
