Lahmu

Retainer to the Dead Ruler Lahmu Nanna (a.k.a. Lucky)

An old fallen angel, he was once a servant of The Black Ruler during the old days of Telos.   Within him, the soul of Parmyssy, dragon of the dark, is housed. Their union is not friendly, nor is it mutual. As such Lahmu exists in permanent torment, he spends much of his time trying to distract himself from his pain by courting partners. Company allows him to temporarily ignore the screams of anguish that echo throughout his mind.   Sometimes he isn't strong enough. Sometimes the screams, the terror and rage take hold. They push him to commit heinous acts of brutality and horror. Under the guise of the Dragon Saviour, he stalks the streets of where ever he stays. Finding and slaughtering the innocent and guilty alike. Even now, in a place of such joy, surrounded by those who want nothing more than to help him he cannot control it. He stalks the Silvanus Woods, killing animals and beasts hoping never to come across a sapient creature.

Personal history

Mursu, an era long forgotten. Primordials burnt the planets and tormented the people. In this time very few could muster the courage to stand and protect the people. The Nanna clan was a group who took it upon themselves to stand for those who could not. They travelled from town to town, building defences and taking on beasts that tormented the people.    Lahmu was born to this clan 70 years after its inception. As the first of the fourth generation, and child of the current chief, he was groomed to lead the clan. His early life was spent in a constant cycle of intense training. By his 16th birthday, he was finally taken on his first mission. It was a simple hunt and capture but went wrong when Lahmu's father was blindsided by a group of bandits. Two days travel from the nearest camp, trapped in a forest being hunted like prey and without a leader Lahmu had no choice but to take up command. Manoeuvring the jungle was gruelling but after four days he finally made it back to camp. They departed with 20 people and returned with four. After this failure Lahmu was considered a failure by the clan, his mother renounced his title and made his brother the next chief.  Lahmu didn't mind, he hated leading, he hated fighting. He hated this world and everyone in it. He devolved into drinking and womanizing, his brother kept pestering him to devote his life to helping the clan again but Lahmu would have none of it.   Shortly after Lahmu's 28th birthday his brother and the other warriors of the clan departed for a large scale assault on a great beast that had been terrorizing the land for centuries. Lahmu stayed behind, still, having no interest in fighting. About a week later he awoke suddenly upon a stone altar. He couldn't move but he could see, standing around the table were the elder women of the clan all of them chanting. His mother was leading them. Lahmu tried to shout but no sound would leave his mouth. As they chanted the room illuminated a deep black. The woman stepped forwards holding bowls of silvery liquid. The poured them onto Lahmu, they burnt away his skin and revealed his bones. Runes carved their way into his skeleton, runes that sealed a god onto his mortal form. Lahmu screamed, his scream silent until they doubled. A voice, deep and dark, echoed his pain. When the women were done, they stepped away and began chanting another spell. The room illuminated again, this time a dark firey crimson. Lahmu fell backwards into an abyss.   This abyss was the realm of the dead. Lahmu stayed here for longer than he knows. He wandered the sundered shores and undead fields, hatred boiling in his veins. Every so often a voice would speak to him. It would speak of genocide and pain. He thought he was crazy, but he didn't mind. Going crazy seemed to be the only thing to do in this place.   Or it was until a man approached Lahmu. Tall and shadowed. His head an obsidian skull and his body enclosed in raven like armour. His eyes burned with undead flame and his voice was as quiet as the dead but carried with it the power of a king. Introducing himself as the black ruler, he offered Lahmu a way out. With no reason to trust this figure, Lahmu rejected his offer. So the ruler made another, he offered freedom from his past in exchange for servitude. After some deliberation Lahmu accepted the offer.   The Ruler removed Lahmu's memories of his past and made him into his servant. Gifting Lahmu jet black raven wings and immortality, Lahmu finally returned to the land of the living. Free from the chains of his hatred and from his madness.   Lahmu remained in the Rulers service until the day of the Last Conclusion. The demon lord tore her way across the pantheon, killing and dismembering the gods. As the cataclysm approached the Ruler's realm he commanded Lahmu to take the angels and flee, Lahmu did not argue. As he left to gather the angels she breached the realm and entered into combat with the Ruler. Lahmu knew what he had to do, but he couldn't. Inside he knew he couldn't lead if he tried he would just get himself killed. So instead he fled alone. Running onto Adamant he joined the survivors of the godly armies and entered Paradise.   He wandered paradise for years, the voice returning and constantly whispering to him. Telling him how great of a failure he was. Lahmu had no strength to resist anymore. He would lose consciousness for years, only to wake drenched in blood. He hated the voice, he hated the one who took everything from him but most of all he hated himself. He was a coward who didn't even have the strength to stop the creature within.   Many times he attempted to end it all but every time he was unsuccessful, the force within preventing his death.   Lahmu gave up on life until the year 186AMK when he was found by a certain guild master, he was soaked in blood and sobbing. She took him back to her guild and cleaned him up. Showing him genuine care and kindness for the first time in centuries.   At first, he couldn't show himself to the people of the guild but eventually, he was caught by a younger member of the guild, taking food from the storeroom. This was Lucy, she called to the rest of the guild that he was finally out of his room. Lahmu was quickly swamped with intrigued members of the guild. He was forced to sit and talk with the guild members. He was far too shy and defensive so the members started to give him drink after drink until he loosened up. He talked, sung and danced with the members for hours that night and for the first time, the voice was silent.   Shortly after he joined the guild officially. For his training quest, he was sent out with Ostion. During the mission, things went south and he witnessed Ostion single-handedly taking down an adult black dragon. He was filled with hope. If someone this strong existed here perhaps he can be sure if he ever loses control he can be stopped.   His time at the guild since has been very fun, the voice still whispers to him but he has found that "intimate" company grants him a reprieve from it, so he has garnered a reputation as a playboy. He doesn't mind though, he loves the guild. Even if his exploits in the Fae's Trio usually end in failure.
