Church of Illumination
The Church of Illumination, or Church of Light, is a relatively young religious group. Gaining massive traction in the growing Baverian Empire, it appears to have come out of nowhere and swept across the nations. The apparent reason for its widespread following is the Churches championing of self driven success. In the wake of the Elemental Emancipation the general populace lost a lot of faith in gods and kings to protect them in any meaningful way, leaving people to rely on themselves to get through the hardships. Enter "The Light".
Public Agenda
Championing self improvement and revelation of how ones abition can benefit societys at large.
Mythology & Lore
Long ago, before the mortal realms knew of the Eternal Radiance, the world was engulfed in shadow. The gods, consumed by their own rivalries and desires, turned a blind eye to the struggles of their creations. Amid this darkness, a lone angel of unmatched beauty and compassion descended from the heavens, bringing light to the forgotten and hope to the downtrodden.
This being, known only as the Lady of Light, was said to have been born from the very first spark of creation, a fragment of pure radiance cast into the cosmos to combat the encroaching void. Unlike other celestial beings, she did not sit in judgment from the heights of divinity but walked among mortals, sharing their joys and sorrows, guiding them toward self-betterment and unity.
As she traveled the lands, her teachings resonated deeply:
Ambition was a virtue, for it allowed mortals to strive for greatness.
Strength was a responsibility, for it could protect the weak and bring harmony.
Unity was divine, for together, the faithful could stand against any shadow.
But the gods, jealous of her growing influence and the love she inspired, cast her from their celestial realms. They declared her teachings heretical and sought to erase her name from history. Undeterred, the Radiant Lady continued her mission, wandering the mortal world as a guiding light in defiance of divine wrath.
Her followers grew in number, their devotion shielding her from the gods’ wrath and spreading her message far and wide. In time, the Lady of Light revealed the truth to her faithful: She was not a servant of the gods, but a power unto herself, a divine force unbound by celestial and outer planar beings. She promised that through their devotion and shared ambition, they too could rise beyond the reach of the gods, ascending as beings of light and purpose.

Worship
Worship in the Church of Illumination revolves around personal ambition, community-driven success, and acts of devotion that reflect the teachings of the Eternal Radiance. The faith emphasizes both individual improvement and societal unity, masking its true purpose under a veil of benevolence. Practices range from daily meditations to grand rituals, all designed to strengthen the connection between the faithful and the Lady of Light.
Everyday Practices
1. Morning Reflection ("Greeting the Light"):
Faithful begin each day by facing the rising sun or a symbolic light source, reciting a prayer of gratitude for the guidance of the Radiant Lady. This practice focuses on setting personal goals for the day, aligning them with the Church's teachings of ambition and self-improvement.
2. Acts of Ambition:
Followers are encouraged to perform at least one act daily that demonstrates their commitment to bettering themselves, their community, or society. These acts may range from learning a new skill to helping others achieve their goals, framed as spreading the Light's influence.
