Basic Information

Anatomy

They have the upper body of a human from the waist up. They also have eight tentacles where their legs should be. They scales on their arms, chests, and backs.

Genetics and Reproduction

One male and female can make have children. The female can lay up to two eggs. Cecaelia are the only races that can mate with other mer. The child hatched from a cecaelia and the other mer is always another cecaelia.

Growth Rate & Stages

Cecaelia eggs hatch slower than normal mer-like eggs. The eggs do not hatch for a few decades at a time. Cecaelia mothers can help the eggs hatch a bit faster. This is only done in times of peace. The babies grew differently depending on how they were hatched. If they were hatched by their mothers they grow much like a human baby. If the egg was hatched naturally then the baby is hatched as a ten-year-old. Then the child grows slower than a normal human. Because this child is growing slower they also live longer. This helps them to find mates to have more children. This keeps the child safe since it is possible that it is still not safe for them. When a cecaelia is old they have a high chance of going blind.
