Cecaelia War (Myth)

Remember myths and history have some truth.
The Cecaelia were the people that use to live in and around the Raging Abyss. They were great spell casters and loved where they lived. They also lived in harmony with Esterdwell Kingdom and Fair Bay Kingdom. Then a few different things happened that are part history and part myth.

Summary

The Shark Mer from Esterdwell Kingdom wanted the waters that the Cecaelia had. Of course the cecaelia didn't want to give up their waters. So the Requiem asked the Siren Mer from Fair Bay Kingdom to help them take the Raging Abyss. The Sirens agreed to help as long as the Requiem gave them the waters of the cecaelia. Since the Requiem needed help to fight the cecaelia they agreed.   The fighting then started. The cecaelia did everything they could to win. They called upon the horrors of the deep. They called the legendary Kraken to aid them. The Kraken killed and dragged a lot of warriors of the two kingdoms into the abyss of the trench. The cecaelia spellcasters would then turn the captured mer into cecaelia. The new soldiers were then sent up to fight against their former friends and allies. They were under something called the Kraken's Curse.   The two kingdoms were able to kill the Kraken and destroyed the curse at the same time. They also wiped out the cecaelia. As the final cecaelia spellcaster died she put a curse on the Raging Abyss. The curse was that if anyone went too far down the trench they would become cecaelia.

Historical Basis

It is true that the cecaelia did live in the Raging Abyss, and had a city at the bottom of the trench. The war really did happen, but it is unclear if a Kraken was used in the war. It is also unclear if all of the cecaelia died in the war. It is possible since the war lasted twenty years. It is also unknown and unlikely that the cecaelia could or would turn other mer into cecaelia. That is still up to scholarly debate.
