Kovacs Röt
(a.k.a. Martyr King)
Kovacs Röt (3160? BV - 3142 BV) was the founding emperor of the Ivory Empire. Most of his early life is unknown, and the first mention of him in historical records is in 3144 BV. He managed to unite the Freestater clans under a single throne, creating the Ivory Empire. He was assassinated during his coronation through the use of poison; his sister Nobares was found to be the primary conspirator of the plot.
Kovacs is the founder of the Röt Imperial Family. All members of the Imperial Family descend from Kovacs through his son Ruvics, and the family is also tied to the Imperial Shrine Maiden through his marriage to her.
Citizens of the Ivory Empire see Kovacs as the ideal emperor, and some believe that he will return when the Empire faces a great peril. There is no indication that Kovacs is the subject of any prophecies from the Imperial Shrine Maiden, and the Regent regularly conducts purges against this cult. Despite not being deified, Kovacs's grave at the Grand Shrine is a site of pilgrimage for many Imperial citizens.

Reign
Although Kovacs refused to be coronated until all of the clans were united, Imperial historians consider his reign to have started in 3144 BV when he pulled the legendary Ash Blade from its pedestal.
Family Ties
Most of Kovacs's family is unknown. The names of his parents and any potential siblings (other than his sister) have been lost to the mists of history, and neither him nor his sister disclosed any information about their early lives.
His younger sister Nobares appears in the historical record alongside Kovacs and the Imperial Shrine Maiden in 3144 BV. Although she served her brother faithfully during his wars of unification, she brought about his death through the use of poison during his coronation. She later committed suicide by jumping from the tower in which she was imprisoned.
