The Weeks of Eur-Thauth

You see, many people see this as just baking. You get the ingredients, you dump it into a bowl, and then take slices from others. Although, for me, it's much... much different,   You see, 1,000 Gold Pieces is a good sum of coin, and being given access to Raman for free? I'll take that any day of the week.
- Kyrá Aldeium, Chef of Maisin Maw
An event that occurs once every five years, from The Hallandary Festival Commission. It's simple, for two months, aspiring cooks and grand chefs enter into the city to cook up a collection of many meals, the most valued challenge being for a three-tier cake to represent an aspect of the chef. Usually, Raman is a secluded nation. Nobody often left, and nobody was allowed in unless certain parameters were made, like allowance from one of it's officials. However, during these two weeks, anybody is allowed to come past it's high wall. Although, there are still some restrictions. Those who appear criminal and/or are not there for the event are not allowed to enter.
Each competition's prize is 250 GP, however, in the last contest, for the three-tier cake, it is instead 1000 GP. This is funded directly by the Hallandary. Often, the money raised makes up for an entire year's budget for Raman alone. There's a reason why many officials wish that this event was an annual occasion instead of every five years. Although, the King of Raman is adamant that it is only once every five years. There isn't exactly a reason why, but a traditionalist like himself would probably wish to appeal to his ancestors. This event carries back to the original kings of the lands, making it seen as a highly anticipated location for historians and culture enthusiasts.
Many different types of food have been founded thanks to this event. Halland Butteries is the main example, a soft savoury roll to replace the stale and rough breads often given to soldiers. Hand-crafted by Byron Stanko, this recipe was heralded as a great advance in cookery. Machines akin to ovens and toasters have also been made here, usually for convenience's sake. Every five years, it's often to find that somebody claims to have the next 'big thing'. More often than not, they are right.

The Modern Menu

Recipes that have won awards have been comprised into a list below;    Yawning Portal Rolls - Sourdough rolls glistening with freshly applied butter and a garnish of parsley.
Gelatinous Flan- Despite not being made from the creature, is a recipe of Calisham original that is traditionally made in square baking pan. The addition of gelatin helps the dish hold its signature shape and colour.
Adillan Custard - A frangipane style baked custard that uses a flour made from exotic, far away seeds.
The Old Koude - The Little Volcano is a cone shaped jam donut that uses chili jam. If it is not eaten within an hour of being served, it erupts. There is an variation, where the chili jam is replaced with magical snow, to make a more modernised version.
Troll Rolls - Troll Rolls are warm basil rolls, jarred with melted honey butter and sugared flesh (non-human). If half-eaten, they grow back their previous bits of roll.
