Knowledge is Power
"If I were to run as fast as possible, and you observed me running at, say, thirty miles per hour, and recorded it for everyone in the world to see, I'd need to work towards getting faster, but I managed to get here from New Vytalie's border an hour ago, by foot. Thirty two miles away, no? I sprinted here, and I got here in just under an hour. It doesn't make sense, does it? The lack of knowledge means that I've got a better chance at surpassing it. I don't know why - nobody does - but maybe that is the reason that it works. Nobody knows why it works - and that is why it works,"Gods are powerful, which is why they are in the place that they are. The divine would not be worshipped if they didn't hold power. However, the same requirement is not necessary for responsibility, authority, and care. Before the change of pantheons, a duty of the gods was to check the scope of reality, making sure that people on Aitso do not excel in their capabilities. With their replacement, the New Gods hadn't understood the necessity of this aspect to the world. Due to this, absolutes do not necessarily exist on Aitso. An individual can display varying levels of strength, endurance, stamina, speed and intellect at any given moment, so long as there are no accurate recordings of their data to compare these feats to.
- Sage of Unknown Origins.
The less knowledge exposed of an individual can mean that they have a higher scope of power - due to suspicions or paranoia of them being anyone else. A commoner who dresses like a barbarian may grow stronger due to fear of their strength from others.
The biggest example of somebody who has grown in power due to this is the Banestress. The Banestress has wiped all forms of knowledge of their prior existence, achieving a true state of anonymity. She went from an excessively powerful, yet mortal, mage, to being a figure that can easily defeat ancient demons such as Eisheth , or even a monsterised Forneus in her first encounter with the Blackstone Legion. She can rival figures such as Avatars, Demigods, and the Titans that had witnessed the rise of the new gods. She has unlimited reserves of magic, and can bend the scope of entire regions, such as Volutaria, Maisin, and New Vytalie. She can even break through Aitso's barriers, such as the South Pole metaphysical dome, to influence the population to do her bidding. At an even greater point of power, the Banestress could enchant the mind of Lord Commander Eligor and convince him that the Blackstone Legion's new home belongs on Aitso, which had caused the continental war in the Wayfarer's Belt, a conflict that she had heavily benefitted from.
