Treatment

Whilst Hallandarian Muscle Dystrophy is not a curable condition, at least not by magic, it is still treatable. The main way to go about this is by using a metal brace, as it stops the affected region from experiencing stress. This method is the cheapest option, and is often made of simple metals like steel and iron. It is susceptible to rust and break down, compared to other treatments. The other well-known treatment - outside Halland Island - is to have a great amount of magic to be spent, to it is known to only the rich and the magically powerful. It rids the genetic mutation from the bloodline of the individual, at great cost. It is said to cost the same amount of magic to fulfill as it takes to create a fully living, and sentient, clone. Only then, can the condition be fully eradicated from a family bloodline. The components to cast the spell itself are also rather rare and hard to find.

The most common form of treatment within The Hallndary are Oathsworn Brace. They serve as a familiar counterpart to the steel braces,as they effectively do the same thing. One, however, is much cheaper. The Patron Celestial of Halland Island has permitted a unique spell to be cast on the island, to create a holy brace that'd serve as a long-term treatment to Hallandarian Muscle Dystrophy. This ensures that the protection of the weakened area would be left untampered with, as well as not being susceptible to it wearing down naturally. The Hallandary itself permits for the priests and clergy of the region to create these braces for free. It allows for many within the region to survive and thrive with their ailment, effectively causing Hallandarian Muscle Dystrophy to be a problem that ceased to impact the island.

The Oathsworn Brace itself is golden in hue. It resembles glowing circlets that encase the region, and establish links made of magical runes that connect to each ring. Usually, there is three rings in a single brace, but this can be different for the affected region, such as the wrist, thigh, or even large regions of muscle mass such as the back. It works on faithful adults, and on children of any faith - or lack of. It is one of the main reasons as to the great amount of faith and holiness to Halland Island, often making it a starting ground for theological journeys and adventures, rather than regions such as Lydgartha and other places that are beyond the Wayfarer's Belt.
