When exploring in Aberway, one may take traditional equipment made for expeditions and explorations, such as rations, a waterskin, or rope. Aberway merchants do include an extra piece of equipment that many travellers or tourists consider bizarre. Ear plugs are considered one of the most valuable pieces of equipment for travelling in Aberway. Aberway is home to creatures that are based on the idea of letting others hear them. Predators use it to scare prey into a fugue state, and herbivores use it to evade predators, making them seem like predators themselves. Of course, nature isn't the only place where hearing can get oneself killed. Enchanters often rely on spells of compulsion and manipulation through their target's perception of their words. Auditory hypnosis was a dreadful opposition for many spellcasters and individuals, and resulted in many cases of mind control. 

Luckily, simple ear plugs put an end to this. Elastic buds that fit into a humanoid's ear with ease was capable of negating the actions of these foul foes in the region of Aberway. 

Cridhe's Weakness

Cridhe, an artificial god that holds psychic abilities to change one's cognition and their bonds with others, can only push her influences onto those who can clearly hear the rhythmic thumps of her heart. Whilst it is excessively loud, and can cause tremors in early months of the year, it needs to be perceived without any issue for somebody to fall victim to its enchanting rhythm. Ear plugs are a perfect counter to them, as well as, in a more unconventional manner, deafness.
