Jern

Jern is the God of knowledge and the application of that knowledge towards progress. She is favored among scholars, tinkerers, engineers, politicians, wizards and alchemists. To them she is the source of all knowledge and inspiration. She is the guiding force for any new invention, spell, or innovation. Because of this, the worship of Jern often does not often resemble worship of any other God.   Jern prides that her worshipers are educated and informed. She expects that her worshipers use knowledge to prudently plan for the future and lay out a strategy for future progress. The worship of Jern is goal oriented and knowledge based. Pius acts often involve long sessions of studying, planning, memorizing passages in holy philosophical texts, and reflecting on the progress one has made. When her followers are at a mental impasse, a quick prayer to Jern may help to give them the inspiration they need to continue their work.   To Jern, prudence is the greatest virtue. Those who can assess their current situation and carefully plan for the future are those most revered in the Jern faith. For this reason she is often associated with divination magic. The priests of Jern claim that Jern's knowledge of the present is so perfect, that she can perfectly predict the future.

Tenets of Faith

Wisdom forge your way
Followers of Jern believe that the mind is the most important part of the soul. To master the mind is to dominate both the body and the spirit. They believe that studying texts, solving puzzles, and making discoveries (or creating new knowledge) is the highest form of worship of their creators.   Jernites believe deeply that knowledge of the past should inform decisions and planning of the future. Consequently they greatly value preserving and collecting history and knowledge. Jernites more than anyone are opt to use the phrase "according to scripture..." and Jernite sermons tend to be more of a reading than a sermon, and the most pious of the Jernites can recite large swaths of the Treatise from memory.
