Ironmar

Ironmar is located deep inside of the Hidden Mountain one of the highest peaks in the Western Ridgeback Range. The Hidden Mountain is known for the dense cloud that surrounds the mount and surrounding area that rarely blows out of the valley. Because of this cloud, the Dwarves who dwell there, ruled by the Silverhelm clan, have been able to easily defend their homes against foreign invaders for centuries.

Demographics

The majority of the city is inhabited by Dwarves, although many foreign traders and adventurers of all species can be found here. They can all be found in the common area near the entrance to the town.

Government

Ironmar is ruled by King Balrin Silverhelm, second of his name, Ruler of the Ironmar and Mastersmith of the Hidden Mountain Dwarves. He a middle-aged Dwarf with a rusty red beard and a crown of silver which depicts a dragon and silver hammers. King Balrin is a level-headed introspective king - like his father who is slow to decide but fast to act.   He is advised by an ancient Dwarven sage named Dunagar StoneHammer.

Industry & Trade

The Dwarves of Ironmar are known for their exceptional steel and silverwork. Anciently, the Ironmar Dwarves used their metal working prowess and the natural resources of the mountain the help supply the other great Mountain Dwarf houses in their military endeavors and defense, but in the last century as the mountain's mineral deposits have started to decline, the Hidden Mountain has become an international hub of trade and commerce. Its central location in the Western part of the continent has put it (Like Elysia to the south) unique position to accept merchants from all over the continent. The merchant stall fees are expensive but many come to trade because of the safety the fog brings to both the mountain and the road leading to it.   Ironmar's Commerce has created a unique merchant caste among the Ironmar Dwarves not normally seen among the other Dwarven clans. They have make themselves as important as the Warrior and Ruling Caste mostly due the the creation of the Mountain Bank. It seems that compound interest can be just as deadly as the sword.   The Mountain Bank competes directly with the World Bank of Havere which lies across the Serpent Sands to the West on the Glass Sea (Mar de Verre).

Geography

Whether it be magic or the unique geography of the area only a single path from the East the Burning Road and another to the West, the Shrouded Raod, connects the mountain city to the rest of the world. Many expeditions, originally by the Dwarves and later by Humans have been lost trying to map the surrounding area. Eventually the humanoid races gave up exploring and instead spent their time and resources building the stone Shrouded Road up to the mountain.
