Skywaltz

This is the effect of a popular drug found in shady alleyways around Aureia.

Transmission & Vectors

The hallucinogen known as Cloudsweat is strong enough that it only takes a few seconds for the effects to take place after the consumer licks the top of a Sky frog. Live frogs must be used as the poison quickly loses potency after extraction.

Symptoms

While under the influence, people have reported to have floated outside of their bodies and seeing everything happening around them from a third person perspective. They felt weightless and everything they saw was tinted in red, violet and blue. They seem to think they remembered everything, while outside observers describe the users as salivating, wide-eyed and unaware of their surroundings.

Treatment

Depending on the size and weight of the creature affected, it takes longer for the poison to break down. For smaller creatures it can last for up to an hour, while the larger species only feel the effects for approximately 10 minutes.

Sequela

People can gain tolerance to this condition and some are prone to become addicted. Prolonged use can lead to loss of taste and feelings of paranoia while not under the influence.

Hosts & Carriers

Sky frogs are a species of frog which produce a potent hallucinogenic which they use against predators that try to eat them. This naturally works for 20 - 30 minutes, long enough for the frog to escape.

History

The frogs don't actually originate on Aureia, but were brought there around 200 years ago. They were brought from a tropical archipelago to the north of the continent by explorers who indulged while they were there. Soon after it spread and word of a new drug hit the streets, most governments passed laws to prohibit further use and frog breeding became one of the most punishable offences.

Cultural Reception

Sky frogs are illegal almost everywhere on Aureia. This prohibition meant the prices soared and many people already addicted quickly lost a lot of wealth trying to satisfy their addiction.
