Stormtide Clan

Stormtide are one of the two major clans of Oni on the island of Ryujin, the other being the Rainsong Clan. The Stormtides occupy a small town on the western coast where they jealously guard the secret of breeding Behir for battle. Once a famous warrior clan, all of their warriors were wounded beyond recovery in a single battle with The Bloodless Saint. However, they have fostered the next generation and have, under the guidance of their next religious leader, Neev Stormtide reemerged onto the global stage. They closely follow Orochi the Tide Maker and are known as honorable and just, which is why the actions of their next leader, Z'vir Stormtide are so disquieting.

Major NPCS:
Z’vir - Oni, Black and white, his colors divided up the middle. Ne’ev’s older brother. Currently run off with the Black Star Sword and other precious relics to the Clan with the determination to return the clan name to glory by defeating a great evil - even if he has to create the evil himself. Personality: Driven, longing for what could be. Desire: To revive the legend of the Stormtide Clan by performing great deeds as they did once before. Fear; He is afraid that if he does not finish what he began everything will fall apart. Role: Technically the current Storm Lord.
Mom: Arima. Oni, Red, sort of wine coloured. Some have speculated she might be red/blue bi-color. A swordswoman once known for her signature move, a lightning fast thrust that cleared long distances and was often a killing blow. It was known as the Raiju, the Thunder Beast. Unfortunately, in the battle against the Bloodless Saint, both of her hands were damaged to the point that she can no longer hold a sword, and she was unable to pass it on, though her eldest son frequently tried to figure it out on his own. Personality: Believes in doing the right thing whatever the cost, strong believer in Karma. Believes the defeat of the Stormtides was due to losing their way, that if they had been better, if she had been better, they would have triumphed. She nevertheless takes great joy in caring for people now, placing her hopes upon the next generation and doing everything she can to give them the best possible start. Desire: To be able to do what others do. To be able to lift her sword and lead, teach, protect, uphold the honor of the clan as once she did, as her sons now do (or were meant to). Fear: That her son is beyond redemption, that as a parent and teacher she failed, just as she failed as a warrior. Role: Ne’ev’s mother, caretaker for the young. Her hands are still capable of flinging a sandal clear across the village to hit a fleeing mischief maker should it be necessary. She is often asked by Hisame to assist in teaching swordsmanship, but she declines as it saddens her, but she will occasionally teach breathing and footwork.
Father : Taka’ada. Orc. A large, but soft and quiet man of resolute honor. A scholar, not a warrior. Deceased. Collected very beautiful tea pots. Studied Fae
Step dad: Jo’o. Orc. A middle sized man of average looks and… just very average. Just a Normal Man.
Twins: Su’uki and Sei’iki. NB twins, 5 years old. Ornies, Red. Each has one horn, Su’uki on the left and Sei’iki on the right. They often speak in unison, kinda creepy sometimes. Delight in mischief and in developing their less than reputable skills of picking pockets, locks, and general roguery. Often try to get out of trouble by flinging pocketfuls of ash into the air and fleeing through the cloud. Personalities: Lovers of mischief, lovers of fun, adventure and just reveling in their childhood. Real Lost Boy types. Desires: To always be children and to have fun! To have a great adventure! Fears: They fear NOTHING they are children and INVINCIBLE deep see creatures
Ne’ev’s favorite: Ku’uzon. 13 years old, She is a Orni, Dark, sort of a dusky dark grey. The quiet one. Very contemplative, often gets overlooked. Wallflower, very soft spoken. Personality:Head in the clouds, often asks very Big Questions out of nowhere. Very into poetry and often travels to the large city on the island, Ame Ongaku to attend poetry readings. Very much looks up to both Ne’ev and the Daimo of the island, Hangaku Rainsong. Also a very skilled painter in inkwash and watercolour, but lacks confidence. Desires: To be a great artist like Hangaku, or a wise leader like Ne’ev. Fears: That the reason they are often overlooked is that they are simply not remarkable in any way.
Emo kid : Yot’ul: Orni, Red. He is 16 years old and has a lot of feelings about it. Dark hair with bangs covering half of his face. Very emo, into weird (experimental rock-gnome rock) music and just feels very Different and Misunderstood. Once had a real talent for polearms and lute, but now refuses to practice (in public, still does so in secret). Personality: Emotional, feels misunderstood and out of place. Very introverted, nihilistic, does not see the point in tradition. Loves novels, mostly about vampires. Often insists that they want to be left alone while making a point to not be. Desires: A sense of belonging Fears: irrelevance in the lives of those around them.
Oldest daughter: Ki’itah. 19 years old. Orni. Blue. Tall and graceful, strives for propriety. Stepped up when Ne’ev and Z’vir left as the new eldest at home, and struggles to hold on to that. Personality: Responsible, but quick to strong emotional reactions, struggles to rein in her temper or her excitement. Has a strong passion for swordsmanship, often practices for long hours. Really looked up to both Ne’ev and Z’vir, now is very conflicted about how to feel. Desires: To live up to the family and clan’s expectations, to stand out, and help restore the standing of the Clan. Fears: Falling short, letting her emotions cause her to make mistakes.
Mori: Oni, Blue. Deep blue and black hair that she keeps long and braided. Personality: Very certain of her love for Ne’ev, has had a crush on him since childhood, and is determined that its been long enough and they should just be married already. Desire: Love, Music, plays the Koto and wishes to perform on a grand stage. Fear: Being left alone, without love. Role: Archer & Defender of the clan, an expert marksman. Ne’ev’s love interest (Or rather, Ne’ev is hers), childhood sweetheart?.
Kyojuro - Orni, red, NB. They have placed their hopes for the future of the clan in Ne’ev, after mistakenly placing them upon Z’vir. Covered in scars, long white hair. Lost both of their eyes in the battle with the Bloodless Saint. They dress very finely. Personality: They are hopeful for the next generation, and regret that they could not have left them a better start. Desire: To rebuild the clan in honor of those who were lost. Fear: Their own mistakes. Role: Former Stormlord. Kind of re-instated currently, unofficially, but does not wish to lead anymore. Yamato - Oni, pale, NB. They use a wheelchair, have a very unique hairstyle. Their eyes still hold the fire of their youth. Personality: They are rebellious - very much believe that the right thing and that which follows the established order are not necessarily the same. Desire: To make something entirely new for the future of the clan. Fear: That there is no future for them, that it is too broken. Role: The spiritual leader and Ne’ev’s mentor. They are stern, very focused on doing what is right regardless of what is orderly. Has a lot of faith in Ne’ev.
Megumi - Oni, blue. She has dark bangs and wears purple lipstick, she has horns that spiral a bit. The head caretaker and healer of the clan. Personality: She takes no shit from nobody. Desire: She whishes to reclaim the whole of her oni heritage, the giant and the demonic. Fear: That her goals are not achievable, that those histories are lost to the past forever. Role: Healer and caretaker. She cares for and looks out for Ne’ev. She worries about him. The desire she carries was one she shared with her partner, who was killed in that decisive battle. Kara’imi- Orc. An elder. He wears bright orange clothes, is bald on top but has a nice long beard, which he decorates with little bits of jewelry and beading. Personality: He’s an optimist. you just can’t keep him down. Desire: He is deeply in love with Hisame and wants to stay by her side forever. Fear: Losing HIsame, as he almost did once before. Role: He is an elder and caretaker. Married to Hisame and one of Ne’ev’s old teachers of non-combat things.
Hisame - Oni, red. An elder. She is missing her left arm (that was her sword arm), has big tusks and is fucking jacked. Personality: Determined, not afraid of failure. Desire: To never again be parted from Kara’imi until death. Role: Elder, fighting teacher. Ubosh: Orc, Elder, he is slim but used to be very strong. Huge scar across is abdomen from the Saint, must take medicine daily now. Carries a naginata. Personality: Hypochondriac, a little too imaginative. Desire: To be listened to (he’s a conspiracy theorist) Fear: fears being frail and weak Role: He’s an elder, and kind of the village crazy. He blames Ne’ev for his brother’s actions, thinks they’re in on it together, to take over the clan.
Hanya - Oni, red, same age group as Ne’ev. He wears a lot of black, and has a mask at his side that he wears in battle. He wears tokens from the pirates he’s defeated on his belt. Personality: a quintessential goth. Fear: that without anyone to fill the leadership role, it may fall to him. Role: Leader of the warriors of the clan. One of Ne’ev’s old buddies.

Ro’ador - Orc, NB. they are a sort of sage-green, heavy set brow, with a sadboi face. They helped Z’vir steal the sword and are doing penance currently. Personality: They tend to be obsessive. Desire: To learn from the past in order to prevent future mistakes. Fear: They’re afraid of witches, and the spirits they control. Role: of Ne’ev/Z’vir’s age group, was a friend of Z’vir, Penitant.
Ruka - Oni, red. She is the village beauty. Her hair is long and she has intense golden eyes and an alluring smile. Personality: Very ambitious Desire: She wants the clan to be remembered forever Fear: That the clan will be forgotten by the world. Role: She was Z’vir’s betrothed and a warrior in her own right. She still hopes there is good in him. She is aloof to Ne’ev.
Giyu - Orni - blue. Tired eyes, bit of a dadbod, clear blue eyes. Personality: His decisions are fueled by guilt. Desire: To be free, not tied down. Fear: Terrified of not being enough Role: Warrior and bad father. He’s a great warrior but kind of a disappointment to the clan. He has a kid that he did not care for over many years, but is now at least trying to be a dad as of recently.
Akane - Orni, red. She’s of the same age group as Ne’ev. She has large, severe burn scars. She wears her hair in a topknot with sharp hairsticks that she can use as darts. She is prideful in her gaze and posture. Personality: Judgemental, self righteous Desire: She is trying to uncover “the secret of who we are.” Fear: Fire. Role: assassin/rogue. Battle buds with Ne’ev.

Sh’nobu - Orc. He is learn but ripped, wears paint across his eyes and wears clothes of a deep navy. Personality: Very quiet, very rarely speaks. Prefers to hang back and observe. Desire: Furious at Z’vir. Hates him for what he has done. Fear: Love. He’s very very ace. Role: Ninja/barbarian. He has asked Ne’ev to kill Z’vir. same age group as Ne’ev

Naoki - oni, red. She has short hair, which they cut in shame after being defeated and having their ship taken by pirates. Has a big scar on her face and wears white. Desire: To move on from her defeat. Fear: being unheard. Role: In charge of funerary rites - formerly a sailor, they are now the Keeper of Graves. They are envious of Ne’ev.

Obanai: Oni, blue. He is a Behir keeper and wears blue with metallic bits. Intensely arched brows and a strong jaw. Personality: He very much believes she will be reborn as a behir. Desire: To be the best Behir keeper possible and then die and then be reborn. Fear: Once had his fortune told - that he would be part of a great battle - but he doesn’t want that, he wants to live and die caring for the behir. He’s afraid his fate is immutable. Role: Behir keeper. He is protective of Ne’ev, being a bit older and having been the one to stick up for Ne’ev when they were young and his brother was being a dick. He is a stalwart friend.

Toyama: Oni, red, NB. They have sharp features, thin lips and several piercings. Personality: Strong of conviction, lawful good, hardass. Desire: To stand up against complacency, make sure the behir are ready for battle when they are grown. Fear: The wrath of the storm; wild and untamed. Role: Behir Keeper - does not like Ne’ev at all.




Uba’an: Orni, blue. 4 yrs old, Hanya’s kid. She wears a fake eyepatch. Personality: Mischievous, troublesome. Desire: To be a pirate, much to her father’s chagrin. Fear: “The battosai” - a boogyman of the Broken Bridge - an undying rurouni who is said to be able to kill any opponent with a single swing of his sword, before they have even drawn theirs.
Nami: Orni- red, recently transitioned to a girl, 8 years old. Giyu’s kid. She wears lots of pinks - kinda like Nezuko Personality: adventurous Desire: Freedome Fear: Not having an identity outside of the clan, not being able to make her own story.
