The Maranians migrated south from the Cold Lands and colonized a region North of The Belly.

The Marenesh people Migrated south from their brutal living conditions in the Cold Lands. They settled in a location south of the Rind of Vlad which they liked for its mild weather and advantageous position. They were a cunning and vicious people who quickly enslaved the local populace and subjected them to their cruelty.   They brought the Mareflower with them, aa crop which flourished in its new environment and has many valuable properties. The flower contains many phycho-active compounds which make people susceptible to suggestion and hallucinations which the Marenesh have grown immune to.   When they arrived they found the inhabitants easy to overcome in comparison to those North of the Rind. They quickly conquered the Norook and Adelesh tribes and bent them to their will using the Mareflower. They dubbed their new subjects the 'Lyren' and made them the serving caste of their society. The Marenesh then assumed their rightful place as the ruling class.
