The Alvinleighs
Ancestral rulers of the Amberlands and the realm, The Alvinleigh name is steeped in history dating back to the First Founding. They established Amber City and claim to have introduced civilization to the rest of the world. They rule from the Cloud-Piercer, a palace at the summit of the city that now comfortably exceeds the height of the clouds by hundreds of feet.
As the city grows larger, a new palace is built on top of the old as to always remain the tallest structure. The now redundant palace is filled with stone and concrete to form a solid foundation for the next level buildings.

- The Walls are very high and thick with countless bastions with trebuchets and other ordinance.
- There are several sets of walls within the city, segregating the poor from the middle class and the elite from everyone else.
- The royal family has vast amounts of wealth gathered from taxes, tariffs, and investments.
- If under attack, Amber city can muster roughly a 100,000 men, though more than half would have almost no training.
- Their standing army of roughly 40,000 men are reasonably well equipped but lack of recent conflict means most men are inexperienced with full-scale war.
- They have a Port on the coast of the Belly Sea which houses their fleet.
History
Amber City's founding is the first recorded event in history and marked the beginning of a new era for mankind. It was founded by a large clan of Adelish people that migrated from the Armlands. They came across a river of fresh water surrounded by vast fields of lush grass and forests. The spot was so idyllic that they decided to make camp there and never left.
Their leader wore a crown made from amber and named himself the Amber King when they claimed the land for themselves that night. His family line was thereafter known as The Alvinleighs. They were cunning and brutal rulers who used their clan's superior numbers to conquer the neighbouring tribes and territory.
When their people invented farming, they immediately made the seizure of fertile land their first priority. The strategy brought them a lot of wealth which gave them another advantage when dealing with other tribes. It became clear that The Alvinleighs were the dominant power in the region. Tribes were travelling from all over to join them, both for the safety of numbers and to not be made a target. What was once a camp became a town and eventually a city.
As The Amber City grew, it was built upward, not outward, as they refused to encroach on their invaluable farmland. So the city built upon itself, each layer built upon the last, with constant reinforcement being added to the lower sections. Now the city touches the clouds and its great weight has caused the structure to slowly sink into the ground, smothering the lower/poorer areas in darkness.
