Sir Lucas Character in A Strange New World | World Anvil

Sir Lucas

The Cyberknight who helps to save the party when they first arrive.   The goal of the first encounter in Rifts Earth is to violently ram home how different the setting is and how woefully unprepared they are to deal with it. But to prevent the encounter from becoming too lethal, Sir Lucas and his Squire arrive to save their asses in the nick of time.   If a player character wishes to play as a Cyberknight, they can assume the role of the squire. If one of the human characters from the existing party wishes to become a cyberknight, we can kill off the squire during this encounter and that player will assume the role of the squire as far as Sir Lucas is concerned.   Sir Lucas's Dream Vision involved him giving the nanites to someone who would be declared unworthy by the peerage yet who be necessary for its survival. He fretted over this and discussed it at length with Lord Coake. it was Lord Coake who gave him the nanite injector and sent him away so many years later after he had attained his own squire.   At some point Sir Lucas is going to be fatally wounded and will administer the nanites to the player character. If no player character is going to become a cyberknight, then Sir Lucas's story arc will not include his death, nor would it necessitate his squire's death. Rather, he will point the party towards Rifthaven and be on his way. An urgent mission to the west calls him.
