An orphan who seeks after her famous uncle after learning he is heading a revolt. At age eight, Xiao Bi was taken in by her aunt Peng Wenqian in Wuchang, Zhenhai after her mother died and her stepfather didn't want her. She is the daughter of Gao Qiqiang, Gao Zhong Hu's younger brother.
Xiao Bi becomes Zhong Hu's aide during the war as she seeks to prove that he isn't really her uncle; after she finds out it is really him, she stays on as his aide for the rest of the war and lives with him afterward.
Xiao Bi created her own courtesy name when she left the Pengs, using a reference to jade as a nod to her grandmother's name. Later, during her engagement to the emperor, Zhong Hu made it official and threw a quiet celebration for her.
