Titan's Fist

Gaze upon it young one. A fortress unlike any other. Walls as old as ancient Rhomeia, and as strong as the root of a mountain. The remnant of a bygone era. Gods, what powers did they face? Look upon those marks! What primordial force could threaten even the Titan's Fist?
— General Androanes to Adeon Vargan
Towering over the endless windswept plains of Mykonia, the Titan's Fist dominates the landscape, making even the mountains of the Dusk Wall seem minor and insignificant. A fortress built in ancient past erected to serve a long-forgotten purpose. A constant reminder that for all his glory and might, modern man remains a mere shadow of what once was.

A Titan of Stone and Steel

Among the Clouds
Even removed from the mountain on which it is built, the Titan's Fist proves an imposing sight. From top to bottom it measures 275 meters in total, a height matched only by a handful of spires throughout the world.   Its main body consists of four parts stacked atop one another, each narrower than the previous one. On the left flank, there is a fifth section, protruding from the main body, reaching to about three-fourths of the fortresses total height. On the upper levels, smaller cuboid constructions hang from the main sections in various places.   While it seems that the Fist is made from mere stone and concrete, this couldn't be further from the truth. While the material looks like stone it is smooth to the touch and harder than a solid block of steel. Even millennia of assault by wind and weather have done nothing to damage it.   Ancient scars mar the tower's appearance. Cracks and holes, both large and small, like flesh wounds they can be found all around the structure. Most prominently on the northern flank, where some say the gods themselves waged war against the Fist. What could cause this kind of damage is a mystery as even the most powerful modern weapons have proven incapable of doing any serious damage.

Tip of the Mountain

The Fist itself is only the tip of the fortress. Under its fundament spreads a network of tunnels and caverns. Carved from the stone over centuries, they serve a variety of purposes from storage for weapons and food to housing entire factories and underground farms.   It is the northernmost outpost of the Rhomeian Empire, which has held the citadel since before the Oblivion Hour. Said to mark the ancient border of the Empire, it has withstood the assault of a thousand armies.   The mountains flanks are white even during Calidan, millions of bones serving as reminder and warning to friend and foe alike.
Zhao Tan was the greatest of the Hijin Warlords. He had won a thousand battles, brought fire to Mykonia and would have to Illigara as well. But the Fist stopped him. It took his army, his pride and finally his life. Heh, what a fool. As if a horse riding savage could take on the might of ancient Rhomeia.

Ruins
Ruins of Ancient Past   As impressive as the Fist is, it is only a small part of a defensive system of truly titanic proportions.   Digging into the ground around the mountain or following some of the mine shafts that have been dug by the Rhomeians, one may come across the remnants of massive walls and citadels.   Fragments larger than castles, made from the same "stone" as the fortress, worked in the same style and decorated with Rhomeian symbols.   Further south, historians claim to have found the remnants of another tower like the Fist, embedded into a mountain.   The site was taken over by Rhomeian troops however and has been closed to any outside researcher. Rhomeians guard their relics jealously and would rather go to war than see one fall into foreigners hands.   These findings have given credence to the idea that the Titan's Fist is in reality merely the only remaining part of a defensive network of gargantuan proportions.
