Rupert's Throne

What was it? Kinslaying? Rape? Betrayed a King? What?! I am just asking. If you ended up here it means you got some serious corpses in that closet of yours.
— Red Valkin, Chief Guard

From "Onwards South - A Journey to the Edge of the World" by Vendrik Hallen:   "Far beyond what most would consider civilization lies a region whose very name implies lawlessness. The Badlands are a region where might is the only currency that counts. And at their southern edge, where the Known World turns over into the great other that is the Outer Lands, lies a settlement that anyone with sane mind should avoid. Rupert's Throne is many things. A place for the sane, it is most definitely not."   "Located about a month's ride from the Southern Satrapies, the last place anyone could conceivably still call civilised, Rupert's Throne lies at the very edge of the Frontier, the border region between the continent of Anidara and the Outer Lands. As if that wasn't bad enough it also counts as part of the Bandit Kingdoms, a region constantly fought over by warlords, criminals, gangs and other outcasts. In a way it serves as the capital of that cursed place."   "It is an amalgamation of wooden structures, some hastily build up, others carefully constructed to last. Tents and other improvised sleeping arrangements fill its "streets", if the constantly changing ways through this maze can even be called that. The only building taller than two stories is the main hall, where the ruler of this chaotic two resides. He is the only one who has any sort of authority here that everyone can respect. Most of the time at least."   "Rupert's Throne was founded in the late 32nd century by Feran exiles. Known as the Rupertines, these fallen nobles and knights took possession of one of the few reliable sources of water within the area and set up camp. Since then, they have remained here, ruling an ugly, miniature version of their old home. A fact that will one day change, if the speeches of the Prince are to be believed. But looking at the few thousand haggard bandits and thieves he surrounds himself with, one can only doubt."

First off, great place name! It's really evocative. You've done a great job of making this place really interesting. "A place for the sane, it is most definitely not" - I love this line.
