River Ferry

So you have no problem riding into the most dangerous of battles but get skittish over using a ferry?

Trying to travel through the Heartlands? Well then traveller, three choices are yours. Your own two feet, the sturdy donkey and the elegant river ferry. Okay, elegant may not be the best word, but they are fast (at least faster than you are walking) and can transport almost anything you may wish to bring with you. However, I suggest you use either the Imperial Service or one of the Upper-Class Servies. Cost more but you don't have that high a risk of drowning.

Land of Rivers

As far as man can remember, the Vardanian Heartland has been connected by canals and rivers. They are the region's lifeline, enabling fast mass-transport of both peoples and materials. With the construction of Hideon's Canal by the 2nd Tarquinnian Hegemony, this process was massively improved. Transports could now sail directly from Veii in the north to Moira in the far south and through the mighty river Sirryn into the complex river network of the Western Provinces.

On Ferries

There are several types of ferries. Be it for various types of wares or people, there is guaranteed to be a ferry for every purpose imaginable. In typical Vardanian fashion, this is regulated. Aside from the Imperial Service, which offers short and long-range transports for an acceptable price, there are several private businesses, most of which are specialized in certain types of transportation.
A vast network of docks and stations, an entire department of the military dedicated solely to keeping order on the rivers and canal systems and government agencies which spend hour after hour dealing with various appearing problems. There are many things one may say about Vardanians, but one cannot deny their thoroughness.
