House of Light

Kinda goes against the whole the sun-is-a-god thing don't you think? I mean you worship the SUN it in an enclosed room?
— Victarian to Adeon Vargan
From the outside, a House of Light does not look like anything special. A rectangular building, made from yellow-coloured stone, usually about four meters high. You can always find them in the highest places of an area. In some cities, you may even find the upper floors of towers converted into makeshift temples.
Pharos
On the inside, they consist of a single large room, a row of pillars on either side and a shallow pool of water in the middle. Between the pillars are mirrors, angled in various ways and if you were to look up you'd see a larger mosaic of mirror shards covering the ceiling.   Their purpose becomes apparent once sunlight enters the room through the only window in the complex. It is oriented east and in the form of a sun, complete with a ring of rays.   In the morning, when the sun starts to rise behind the Dawn Wall, the light will stream in and reflected by the mirrors bath the entire room in an ethereal orange glow.   It is the same in the late hours of the day. The last rays of the sun, as it sinks behind the Dusk Wall, reflected from the Dawn Wall turn the room a calming yellow. It is at these hours when the main prayer is held by the cult.   Each temple is headed by a group of five priests, who act at the order of the High Priest who rules from the Pharos, the greatest House of Light.
For all the arguments I have against worshipping a giant ball of fire, I have to admit those priests do give one a good light show.

Come on those are just tales. Even Maharael's Fist was broken by a storm. How could anything withstand that might for over four millennia?
— Victarian
The great Houses   The oldest and largest temples of the Cult of Oberon or rather sun cult at large are located within the Mountains of Ice and Fire that surround the Vardanian Heartland in north and south respectively.   There are a total of four temples, three of which are located within the peaks of mountains. Each is headed by a single head priest. The fourth and largest of them is the Pharos, a massive white tower, built upon a high plateau. Storms of terrifying might rage across it every six months, the tower assaulted by thousands of lightning strikes.   Here the High Priest watches over the cults most sacred texts and artefacts and dictates its actions across Vardania.
