Chaoborida
The Chaoborida "phantoms" are a subset of the Myacoris people who live near water, and favour colder weather. They are fairly common in Pestilentia and the coasts of the Midlands and North. They are often found with Flitterfoxes, and are known for scavenging humours and bodily fluids, which is a particular way of treating disease and illness. They are very knowledgeable about blood and often hang around Sarcophaga as well.
Who are they and what do they look like?
- They need to live in shaded areas because their skin does no produce melanin or pigments, and it burns and carbonizes easily. They are cold blooded and can't regulate their own body temperature (they can technically, but they don't act like it and are prone to hypochondria).
- Dark hair and organs, their skin looks carbonized when exposed to sun
- their hair is iridescent and makes them kind of glow in a creepy way
What are their senses or perceptions?
- They have an incredible sense of smell
- Average eyesight
- Can breathe for longer underwater
- Can handle the cold, unlike many other tribes
Where are they in your setting?
- They are common on the coasts of Pestilentia, Eskern, and the Morvoren Islands
- They have also established coastal communities in Sinderfall, Wychazel, and along the waterways of the Krummholz
- They tend to hang around Glendatis due to similar habitats, but are often bullied by Dolomedes and other Kubeleya
- There are some communities in Kargast and Karkebi too
How do they survive in their environment?
- They can greatly modify their blood to change their health
- Higher tolerance for toxins, also amazing senses of smell
- Survive in all sorts of weather, typically less hospitable
What is their general attitude?
- They are feared by some due to their reliance on blood magic
- People often worry they carry the Nycteria virus so they are antagonised in more populated cities
- They often wear chokers or bracelets that change colour if they get infected
- They tend to keep to their own communities but do have certain people they ally with
- They are better thought of in colder environments where the transmission of parasites is not as common
How do they feel about the other peoples?
- They get along with Glendatis, with some Myacoris
- They do not get along with Vespula or Gannwyll Gwydd, Kubeleya often bully them too
