Human Controlled Space
Humanity has spread out from its birth planet of Earth, or Terra to some. Now starting to reach other star systems, the process is slowly gaining momentum.
History
The Solar Terran Systems as it is known is made up of the Sol System, along with its worlds (Mercury, Earth etc), and with discovered tech has now moved to the Alpha Centauri triple star system. This is now along with the following now being fully colonized: Barnard's Star, Wolf 359, and Lalande 21185.
The Sol System has now been fully explored and colonized as of 2069. The initial sleeper ships were sent out in the early 2030s using a primitive form of fusion plasma reactors as a fuel source only for these to be improved over the next 20 years. From then on it was quicker & more efficient to board & retrofit the older models of ship where possible to speed up their arrival at their destinations. Coupled with more advanced mining operations of the Main Asteroid Belt between Mars & Jupiter, along with the former planet and Mercury & Venus, sped up the process. This allowed for greater abundance of rare earth metals and other valuable minerals not found on Earth. Along with many space agencies such as NASA and the European Space Agency, many powerful private enterprises helped to revolutionise the fields need for space travel. Drawing upon many scientific articles & experiments, both groups combined resources where necessary allowing for the first jumps beyond the Main Asteroid Belt, and the building of orbital docks cutting out the need to send planet bound missions off-world.
