She briefly worked with The Party, when they took an interest in a series of murders she was investigating, which she suspected (correctly, as it turned out) were the work of the Cult of Bhaal.

She finds murder and corpses absolutely fascinating, and has a tendency to forget others find her work ghoulish. Although she understands that her role is to protect the people of the city, she is far more interested in solving the intellectual puzzle of a crime than saving lives.
Better described her as 'insane', and Astarion concluded that, given how quickly she trusted Better despite knowing they were a Bhaalspawn, and how comfortable she seemed to be with them when most people find them unsettling, that she was either stupid or mad.
Despite her personality quirks, she is a diligent and effective investigator, who cares deeply about her work.
