Pavel
Pavel Nemec, the herdsman
Pavel, the youngest child of Laszlo and his late wife Jelena, carries the quiet resilience of his family’s challenging past. He is the tender of the family’s herding business, his hands marked by the physical toll of his daily labors in the rugged terrain surrounding Guthram. With deep-set eyes mirroring his mother's and a robust frame inherited from his father, Pavel's presence is both comforting and commanding.
Growing up in the shadow of family tragedies—his brother Lukasz's mysterious disappearance and his younger brother Vasil’s taking by the Faerie tithe—Pavel has matured into a protective figure for his family, especially toward his elder sister Nadja, whose artistic pursuits have often set her apart in their conservative village. His role extended further as he often found himself mediating between Nadja and their stepmother, Iva, whose strained relationship with the family only deepened after Vasil's loss. Since Nadja left for the city, Pavel's protective instincts focus upon Nilus, his younger brother, often stepping in to shield him from their stepmother Iva's harsher criticisms.
In Guthram, Pavel is seen as dependable and earnest, known for lending a hand without hesitation and for his steadfast nature. He carries the weight of his family’s legacy silently, ensuring the safety and cohesion of his kin through his actions rather than words. His deep connection to the land and his family’s herding roots anchors him, making him a quietly respected figure in the community.
