King Harold IV
About five hundred years ago, King Harold IV inherited the Grenn throne from his father. Unlike his father, who saw little point in making peace with the Bhals, Harold desired otherwise. For many years, or so the stories claim, he had been conducting a clandestine affair with the Princess Ansa, the daughter of the Bhal king Lotho. Upon taking the scepter and crown of Grenn, Harold traveled into the neighboring Bhal lands, disguised as a beggar. When he reached the hall of the Bhal king, he revealed his true identity and asked for an audience. Harold knelt before the king and pledged his people and holdings to the Bhal in exchange for the hand of the princess in marriage. The chance to become lord and ruler of the all the lands and bring the bitter feuding to an end drove Lotho to accept Harold’s offer and thus the unified Kingdom of Balgrendia was born, with Harold rising to its throne upon Lotho’s passing—his and Ansa’s heirs have ruled Balgrendia ever since
