Act 1: The Dawning Shadows
Amidst the looming uncertainty of succession in Balgrendia, a darkness stirs, its whispers threading through the heart of the Viscounty of Breckheim. Our characters find themselves on the cusp of adulthood, their futures unwritten and their pasts cloaked in the innocence of youth. But innocence is a luxury Balgrendians can ill afford. As the children of Guthram prepare for the annual spring festival, little do they know that a simple errand will mark the beginning of an epic saga—one that will lead them into the heart of ancient mysteries and the dark underbelly of their homeland.
With the land ensnared by a creeping malaise and the nights growing unnaturally long, whispers of discontent and fear spread like wildfire. The ancient pacts that once kept peace between humanity and the otherworldly denizens of the dark woods are fraying, and as the veil between worlds thins, some suggest that old gods stir. Heroes will rise from the most unlikely places, bound by fate and driven by courage, to face the shadows encroaching upon their homes.
Yet, with every step they take, the young adventurers must ask themselves: Are they merely pawns in a much larger game, played by beings whose existence spans millennia? Do they hold the key to Guthram's salvation—or its doom? In the shadows of a land where magic breathes and old gods walk, the lines between ally and enemy, truth and deception, light and darkness, are as shifting as the twilight veil itself.
