Park Rangers

Park rangers in the Adirondack Mountains are employed by the Adirondack Park Agency, the Adirondack Park Alliance or the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. They patrol their assigned parks and reserves. They do community work, help maintain trails, keep tourists safe, search & rescue and much more.   Park rangers are a crucial element in maintaining the massive forsts and facilities of the Adirondack Mountains.   In recent years they have become crucial in maintaining relations with many of the smaller supernatural communities spread across the mountains. Here the park rangers work as mediators when conflicts with humans or between communities arise, supporting the druids in their work, support communities in distress and act as emissaries for their employer.   In many cases this job will bring the rangers to the very remote areas.

Education & Training

Park rangers are required to have some kind of college education in various environmental sciences, forestry or similar or experience in law enforcement or fire fighting. They learn many additional skills and routines on the job.

Responsibilities

Community Work

A fairly new responsibility since the lifting of the Veil. The park rangers have in some cases become social workers, diplomats and mediators for the supernatural communities that inhabit the parks. These new responsibilites have been a large challenge to train existing staff and expand the force to adequatly fullfill these new duties.   The park rangers regularly communicate with the various dryad groves, Jogah communities and other supernatural communities.   The most common work is to mediate in conflicts between tourists and the local supernaturals. Many tourists do not yet properly respect these peoples and often violate their boundaries or invide their territories.
