Öruggtthorpe

Located on the edge of Villt Svæði the walled city of Öruggtthorpe is the last safe city before entering the Wildlands. Walled cities in Útgarðar are a rarity and either indicate that the city is very wealthy, important, or in constant danger. Öruggtthorpe is in the latter category.

The great walls of the city, master-crafted by imported dwarven stonemasons, are its first and last line of defense against the monsters of Villt Svæði. They keep the thriving city protected from most threats that would seek to destroy it. Its defensible position at the edge of a narrow pass into the Wildlands is just the icing on the sweet rolls.

The city's economy is based on the Líkamaður, the adventurers who delve into the ruins and retrieve ancient treasures. Every conceivable service that they may need is located within the city. Alchemists, blacksmiths, ropemakers, spell-scroll writers, and even a kitchen that specializes in making prepared rations. Öruggthorpe has it all for, semi, reasonable prices.

But the true jewel of the city is not the walls nor the shoppes but the great mjødhall Síðastidrykkurinn, or Síðasti. The Last Drink, as its called, is a grand hall on the hill in the center of the city. The peaks of its curved walls are carved with wolf's heads on both ends, one pointing to the Wildlands and one to the coast of Viddleland. Inside any tired Líkamaður can relax by the fire pit, eat a hearty meal from the buffet style tables, and down a glass of mead. For a price of course, 5 silver per person paid at the door; drink is perched separate however.

The current lík drottning, or Corpse Queen, of the city is Dalla Secondsheild. She rules over the city mediating legal disputes and managing public works. The position of lík drottning/konungur is determined on a bi-yearly basis with whoever brought in the most valuable haul of treasure in those two years being crowned.
