Festival of Kelvies

The festival of Kelvies (also known as the festival of butting heads) is a celebration that happens every Xinem summer (so once every two summers). It's a festival of three days where the dwarves all across the continent gather around their nearest mating plateaus of the Copperhorns in the mountains. They set up camp, and under the drumming of the thunderous clashes of the copperhorns butting heads the dwarves dance, sing, make music and celebrate the summer heat after the terrible cold of the Iridir winter.   The festival's symbol is the .. kelvi'ishna.. flower. The kelvies are a subtle heud turquoise flower that blossom in the beginning of the Xinem summer. They blossom in the warmer areas where the dwarves live slightly before they bloom in the mountains. The Copperhorns eat these flowers and the chemicals trigger their mating instincts. (These chemicala have a trippy hallucinative effect on the dwarves) As soon as the dwarves see the first Kelvies bloom, they know the mating is imminent and preparations got the festival jump into gear.   Every dwarven race across the continent celebrates this festival with food, drink, dance, music and songs, though each clan adapts the festival with local traditions and habits.

Components and tools

The symbol of the festival is the Kelvi'ishna flower(Kelvies). The camp of the festival is adorned with Kelvies woven into crowns and images of the flower on banners.   There is usually a central location in the camp which is demarcated by boulders placed in a circle. Within this circle is where the dancing, music, singing and staged fights take place.   During staged fights the participants will wear a simple mask with two large copper horns. They also usually wear white fur coats. And in a absurdistic manner will re-enact the butting of heads of the copperhorns in a dramatic, comedic fashion.
