Gravitationally bound to the star 7499 Caeli, Tau Cerberi is a star system located on an inner spiral of the Cerberi Galaxy.

Tau Cerberi contains eleven major planets; four of these are grouped in the 'Outer System Region' and the other seven are grouped in the 'Inner System Region'. There are also five dwarf planets in Tau Cerberi. Two of the dwarf planets are located in the Inner System Region and the other three dwarf planets are located in the Outer System Region.

Out of the eleven major planets in the Tau Cerberi system, only 4 of them have been settled and all to varying degrees.

Settled Planets

Grada Sycia is the 4th closest planet to 7499 Caeli and is home to a research outpost owned by the Osiryx Federation. Though settled, it can only be accessed whilst donning the appropriate attire and equipment. Currently there are no known species in the Osiron galaxy sector that can survive Grada Sycia's climate without protective equipment.

Liluri is the 5th closest planet to 7499 Caeli and was terraformed by the Ulmaat in the Universal Galactic Year (UGY) 4241. It is home to many Ulmaat settlements and can be accessed by various other species that make their home in the Cerberi Galaxy. Ulmaatans and Dreggan can freely roam Liluri indefinitely without the need for any form of protective equipment. Zarcants can roam Lilrui for several days without the assistance of protective equipment. After this, they will either need a period of re-acclimatisation (usually eight days) or they will need to use protective equipment for the rest of their stay. Any other species will require protective equipment for the full duration of their stay on Liluri.

Chatau's Landing is the 6th closest planet to 7499 Caeli and was settled by the Ulmaat in UGY 4650. It had been home to many species in the past, but now the Terrans call this planet their home. Almost all species can access Chatau's Landing without the need of specialist equipment and/or attire. The only species not capable of doing this are the L'Or.

Nepit V is the 7th closest planet to 7499 Caeli and is home to an Ulmaat mining colony and several Dreggan settlements. Dreggan can stay on Nepit V indefinitely without the assistance of protective equipment. Ulmaatans can stay for hours at a time without the assistance of protective equipment, after which they will either need to re-acclimatise (this usually takes a day or two) or they must use protective equipment for the rest of their stay. Any other species will require protective equipment for the full duration of their stay.

Beyond the eleven major planets on the fringes of the Tau Cerberi system is the Varmir Belt.

Relay Stations

The Tau Cerberi system is home to two relay stations.

The Forward Arc

Built in the Gremoris system by the Ulmaat, the Forward Arc was the first relay station to be situated in the Tau Cerberi system. Initially it was built to allow the Ulmaatans to travel between their home system of Gremoris and Tau Cerberi. Over time, it became a popular resting place for many interstellar travellers. In UGY 4617 the Osiryx Federation officially bought the Forward Arc from the Ulmaat for twelve billion credits, adding it to their fleet of relay stations.

The Exodus

In UGY 5264, the Osiryx Federation began construction on a new relay station - the Exodus. The purpose of the Exodus extend the distance one could travel using a relay station. Before the Exodus had it's first successful jump, no relay station had even been able to fire outside of the Osiron galaxy sector. It went through extensive testing carried out by Federation officials for years before the Federation was satisified enough to authorise the first jump.

Though construction took longer than expected, Exodus was eventually completed in UGY 5305, and a year later the Terrans made their first relay jump from the Milky Way to Cerberi. The overall cost of the project to the Federation was twenty-seven billion credits.

Technically, 'Exodus' is the name of the project to design, build and test a relay station in tandem with the one being built by the Terrans in the Milky Way. The official name of the relay station that resides in Tau Cerberi is 'Exodus Cerberi', whilst the official name of the relay station in the Milky Way is 'Exodus Sol'. In either galaxy, the relay station is commonly referred to as the Exodus for the sake of simplicity.

[START TRANSMISSION]

Hercules V has made the "relay jump" to Exodus. Minimal damage sustained. Systems at 97% and holding.

The ride was unexpectedly smooth. Clearly this "Osiryx Federation" know a thing or two about intergalactic travel. The engineers are looking into the damage - they think most of it came from initial entry into the relay jump, but it's too early to tell.

And for the record? The view in Tau Cerberi is beautiful. The Federation told us that there are four habitable planets here, but our readings suggest that "Chatau's Landing" - as the natives call it - has the greatest chance of success if we settle there.

Hopefully, this message makes it back to you at HQ.

Captain Ziegler, signing off.
