Mor’ketska - a name scattered about the several prevalent ruins on Chatau’s Landing. Repeated over and over alongside a language that none of the current space faring species can really make head nor tails of. Though there are a couple of Terran linguists, Sarah Nephy and Carlos Briea, who are on the brink of a breakthrough.

The name itself is that of a religious group created by the Jerkan’thans and means ‘of the Ketska’, which was the major religion during the height of Jerkan’than civilization.

An Age Old Religion

Members of Mor’ketska believed in three deities. The first being Lu’kerrh, a depiction of the Tau Cerberi system’s sun. The second and third deities, considered siblings by the Mor’ketska, were depictions of the two moons orbiting Chatau’s Landing. Their names were Zephra and Gin’Zala.

They were founded millennia ago when Jerkan’thans were still alive and kicking.

As with any religious order, they had principles that they held dear to their hearts, all of which aligned with the Ketska religion. These were:

  • Heed the stories of your elders, for they shed light on the past
  • Make peace with your enemies, but do not be tricked into forgiveness
  • Family found can be more powerful than family born, but one should never forget their roots
  • Where you find weakness, do not despair, having limits is within our nature
  • Share in the light and darkness in equal measure, for they provide balance to our world
  • Action is a force of change, but do not forgo wisdom for for haste

Telenau Ruins - a Citadel of Worship

Before Telenau fell to ruin, it was the once great citadel of the Mor'ketska. Full of wondrous and vast technology, the streets bustling with like minded individuals, and rich with the Mor'ketska’s history.

It was within the safety of Telenau that the Mor'ketska would host their major religious holidays. Though all were welcome to the citadel during these times, they were not permitted to stay - only followers of the Mor'ketska’s teachings had that privilege. And what a privilege it was.

In comparison to the rest of the Jerkan’thans, the Mor'ketska living in Telenau had extremely comfortable lives. Free from the confines that the Jerkan’than governments tried to place on them meant that they were able to do whatever they wished. It made them a very lucrative looking religious sect to those on the outside and, once their numbers outgrew that of non-religious Jerkan’thans, a very dangerous group.

Telenau change from a place of worship for the Mor'ketska to a military esque complex. The original teachings of the Mor'ketska became conduits to fuel their members with anger at everything the Jerkan’than governments had done wrong. What followed was an all out war between the Jerkan’thans, one that led to their downfall.

Remnants of the Mor'ketska

Of course, the Telenau ruins are perhaps the most famous of the Mor'ketska’s dying embers. What with the recent Terran discovery of one of their visnari power cells and with it being the most complex of the ruins. But there are more relics of the Mor'ketska and their bloody history littered throughout Chatau’s Landing.

The Kylnesh, for example, is one of the smallest ruins discovered to date. It differs from the others in that it was completely decimated. The Kylnesh sect were in fact one of the only Mor'ketska sector to remain neutral during the Mor'ketska / greater Jerkan’than conflict, but in the end the Jerkan’thans wanted to leave absolutely no trace of the Mor'ketska behind. With that stance taken, they enter the Kylnesh sect under the guise of peace and subsequently burnt it to the ground.

Mor'ketska

This word in particular strikes a rather strange chord. It appears frequently, all over the Telenau ruins, but we haven’t encountered it before. With the placement, I believe the word itself is used to identify a group of people.

The latter part of the word, ‘ketska’, has been used without ‘Mor’ prefacing it. If what my and Carlos’ studies from the previous two ruins have uncovered are any indication, this ‘Mor’ is used to specify the group, whilst ‘ketska’ is the actual name of the group. Perhaps ‘Mor’ is equivalent to ‘the’ in our terms?

Lu’kerrh

Another frequent word appearing in the Telenau ruins. This one is quite interesting - it stands above large, wide open buildings and often has images accompanying it. The image depicts a creature - perhaps a member of the species who used to inhabit the ruins before they became, well, ruined - standing in front of a sun.

Carlos thinks the creature is worshipping the sun. I’m more inclined to say the creature is the sun, or rather this ancient species view of it. Considering the juxtaposition of other beings kneeling around this central creature, they appear to be worshipping it. Though Carlos has always had a better understanding of religious relics than I have, so maybe I should give him this one.
