The Prophet of The Sun

Over three hundred years ago The Prophet of the Sun was granted a divine glimpse of a disastrous future. From that glimpse he built a plan, and by following that plan we have all survived to this day.
Throughout the history books there are stories of ancient peoples who practiced some form of sun worship. Some small few of those religions still exist today in one form or another. It was from one of these religions that a great prophet arose, and whose vision of the future ensured the survival of his followers. By following the great plan he laid down, his modern day followers were able to weather the after effects of The Dimming, and have now risen to prominence in this much changed world.   Before he became Prophet, Findorian Helspur had been a head priest of a large religion who believed that The Sun was the source of all power in the universe, and had been placed in the skies by The Mother to give life and energy to all living creatures. One night Findorian claimed to have been granted a vision by The Mother, a glimpse of a terrifying and dark future which saw him awake in a cold sweat. But the vision had also contained a message of hope for the future, and the seeds of a plan to help his people survive.   Not all of his fellow priests believed his visions, and thought he was merely trying to gain power, as he had always been known to be ambitious. But some did, as did many of Findorian's own followers, for he was known as a kind and just man amongst his personal congregation. Those who believed in Findorian's vision eventually split from the main church and formed their own sect based around Findorian's great plan for the future, with him as their leader.
