Purpose
The purpose of the original group was to ensure that the great plan envisioned by
The Prophet of The Sun was carried out, and while that is still at the core of the organisation's beliefs, they have also developed new goals and ambitions. The most ambitious of these is to attempt to destroy the Constellations in the hope that it will bring back the Sun.
About two hundred years before
The Dimming The Prophet had a vision in which he claimed to forsee the light of the sun going out. He also claimed that the Mother had given him glimpses of ways in which he could ensure the survival of her people in the aftermath of this calamitous event. The Prophet and his followers formed their own religious sect and began enacting the great plan.
This mostly involved, the stock piling of food, research into ways to mimic sunlight, and a variety of methods and plans for bringing control back to what would be a panicked and fractured population. The aim was to be the onlt people prepared for the event and thus the only people in a postion to take control of things. Then they could continue to act in a way to ensure the survival of the remaining people, under their authority.
This plan worked with a reasonable amount of success, though not without a few hiccups along the way, and the GBC now hold control over the majority of the region. They continue to spread the plan of the prophet and most people are happy to have somewhere safe to live, food to eat and the kowledge that somone in authority has a plan. Most people in Dinat follow the religion of The Mother now and hold the prophet in some sort of reverence. Even those who don't believe in the religion are still happy to go along with it to keep the satus-quo.
